I saw somebody comment one time that Max is the better HW based on resume/title etc, but that Jimmy Young would be the harder fight for most HW's... Do you agree?

    No.

    Max was just plain better.

Jimmy would have perplexed, frustrated, bedeviled him like he was never bedeviled before. A decision for Young,...or maybe another screwing over.

Eras aside Jimmy would have countered and befuddled Max all...nite...long. Unless Cobra's screwing over factors in.

We can hope that if it did ever take place that it wouldn't be in Germany.

To be honest, Young won the lineal title against Ali in a pretty poor era. On the other hand, his victorious title defenses against Lyle, Foreman, Norton, and even Ocasio were pretty decent. He cleaned the 70s remnants out of the division before Holmes took over.

Young wins by decision in a very uneventful fight.

Young actually being awarded the decision would be an event!

Max the better fighter, but maybe Young could spoil his way to a win.

Max was different than Foreman or Shavers, he'd outwork Young.

Someone pointed out to me i believe it was @JohnThomas1 that Louis was inexperienced and hadn't hit his prime when he lost to Schmeling ? again i'm no expert on Schmeling especially the black and white era in general. I was just wondering what the general feeling is regarding Louis's loss to Schmeling, i do know Louis was a sucker for the right hand in that fight, and got hit over and over again with it.

Also does Young's style fit better against the more modern bigger Heavyweights ?
