Watched his recent interviews about Sunny and Charlie Edwards / Selby -- he is totally deluded about how he is the name in the division etc etc -- both Edwards and Selby beat him easily. Who else is he going to box and surely he wont get another world title shot without a good win??? i've not rated him one bit as a pro and think he comes over as very arrogant !!
I don’t like the guy at all either. Plays the clown on Twitter ripping the **** out of everyone and then when OD went personal in retort he didn’t like it. OD did take it too far because family should be off limits but Paddy had it coming. Also in the ring he isn’t as good as he likes to think. Has no power at all and I can see him quickly going down the Gavin/Stalker route. Both Edwards come across as twats as well tbf. I like Selby though.
the Edwards are little chipmunk looking rats. I can't wait till Charlie gets brutally stopped by Rosales. Don't like Barnes much either.
Sunny Edwards actually seems quite switched on, prefer him to the other Brother. Paddy Barnes is just trying to get another world title shot without earning it.
There's two aspect to it. Pro Barnes and anti Barnes. First he actually IS very good, better than most realise. Top, elite amateur and wsb fight pedigree and has had only 6 pro fights. I thought he was awful in the first 4 and had all but given up on him but he really impressed me in his last 2. Was always going to struggle in the early going against the height and reach of the excellent Rosales but was dreadfully unlucky with the one shot body punch k o. ...as I feel he was beginning to get to Rosales and would have tested the admittedly excellent Rosales later on had it not happened. Others may disagree. Watch or rewatch his last two, with an unbiased eye. ... worth a look. Serious ability there. But. ..but... .But. . Paddy's done himself no favors . He's failed the "attitude test". Big time. He's pressed everyone's "annoy me " switch. Also age is against him.
Barnes is one of those fighters I just don't get, he just isn't that good. 31 years old, just been knocked out and he is still talking like he is the Daddy, the sooner he gets ironed out again and retires the better.
Charlie is extremely unlikeable. Have you seen his IG? He’s posing around as if he’s some sort of model when he is a 5’2” rat faced dwarf. From his interactions he seems to hang around with the TOWIE/Love Island types which makes him even more unlikeable. Also a while back he had some sort of face/off at a Matchroom show with Yafai where they were both arguing about a potential fight. The words “I’m the money fight” came out of Charlie’s mouth at one point and I almost died from the cringe.
From what I have read and heard the there is a few off them within that circle which Vaughan trains/ his father trains who have delusions of grandeur. Would love Selby to have the opportunity to shut the little mouthpiece up, there is not a chance in hell they would take that fight though.
Edwards is a different type of arsehole from Barnes, both are however as you say extremely unlikeable and utterly deluded.
Barns biggest issue is his age. What is he, 32/33 now? Old for a small guy. I actually felt he was beginning to slide in the amateurs before turning over. Declining and adapting to a whole new format ain't easy. Especially when you're rushing to win a world title. For those reasons I don't believe he'll win one. He was a great amateur but made the crossover too late. A big payday somewhere is as good as it'll get for him IMO.
Barnes actually does have talent as I've explained in my previous post. People ne d to watch his last two fights with an open mind. Problem is people haven't an open mind cos Paddy "the leprechaun " has annoyed everyone.
Would you disagree he's past his best? I remember him winning medals in the amateurs. Looks to have lost a step since then IMO.
His last fight he got stoppped by a body shot and never looked like keeping Rosales off him, he’s got nowhere near enough power to keep any elite level fighters from walking him down.
Hard to say. Totally different sports really. He is very old for a lighter weight boxer though. I'd say his conditioning could improve.. .maybe he could've survived the Rosales body shot with better conditioning......
