WTF?! He was a very skilful and good fighter and that's way too young to go. That's at least the third top German boxer to pass this year. In fact, in the last few months as both Graciano Rocchigiani and Karl Mildenberger died within days of each other in October.

In addition to being a 3 x WBC SMW champion, Beyer was also a top amateur too. 274 Fights - 235 Wins and bronze medalist at the world championships, silver at the Europeans, and a junior world championships silver medalist. The fighter who stood in his way of winning gold at the Europeans was the brilliant Romanian Francisc Vastag who Beyer holds a win over too.

    Vastag's CV

    World Amateur Championships
Gold medal – first place 1989 Moscow Welterweight
Bronze medal – third place 1991 Sydney Welterweight
Gold medal – first place 1993 Tampere Light middleweight
Gold medal – first place 1995 Berlin Light middleweight
    European Amateur Championships
Gold medal – first place 1993 Bursa Light middleweight
Gold medal – first place 1996 Vejle Light middleweight

And the Kazakh Yermakhan Ibraimov who beat Beyer in the Olympics was another brilliant fighter too

    Olympic Games
Gold medal – first place 2000 Sydney Light Middleweight
Bronze medal – third place 1996 Atlanta Light Middleweight
    World Amateur Championships
Silver medal – second place 1997 Budapest Light Middleweight
Bronze medal – third place 1999 Houston Light Middleweight
    Asian Games
Gold medal – first place 1998 Bangkok Light Middleweight

So Beyer would've had an even more impressive amateur CV if not for running into them

    RIP
