Uh, he was off three, years, ballooned 130 pounds, and had a coke habit.

We agreed no excuses, and no one is making any, but Fury gets credit for one of the most sensational comebacks ever, and Wilder was exposed by a fat coke-head.

In a year, Fury will be back to his old form, and Wilder will be running as fast as he can searching for new cripples.

    Sorry.

For me Wilder's bum period ended with Stiverne, I never called him a bum after. I think his boxing skills are garbage but overall he's a good heavyweight.

He is a bum. This fight proved it. Let's not forget that virtually everyone thought this was a cherry pick, and that Wilder would win easily, by KO. Even Fury fans were saying that.
He just got made to look like a club fighter by a cokehead.

I find him embarrassing to be honest, purely as a fan of boxing. Protected, clinging on to relevance bum following a guy around trying to land one big shot.

I think it's more to do with the fact that most viewed Fury as a near bum at this stage of his career & gave him no chance.. People had low expectations! That's why he's getting so much praise for his performance. Wilder is what he always was, an average boxer with big power & freakish athleticism.. Who got out manoeuvred & out boxed by a guy who most thought was a cherry pick.

    What has changed?

    - He fought a man who has essentially been inactive for 2+ years. He chose to do so thinking that Fury was done.
    - He lost 8 rounds to a man with no power, who he openly said he would take the fight to and knockout in 3 rounds?
    - He was made to look like an amatuer when he couldn't get his shots off, and when he did throw, he was inaccurate and telegraphed
    - He had absolutely no answer for being outboxed in the 8 rounds that Fury won (they resembled sparring)
    - The rounds that Wilder won, had knockdowns. They were the only things that won him those rounds. Round 12 for example was a 10-9 round to Fury without the knockdown.
    - Throughout the fight, Wilder was hurt more than Fury. The only difference is Wilders damage was more devastating on Fury.
    - Round 12, Wilder was out on his feet after the knockdown when Fury caught him coming forward
    - Where was Wilders KILLER power in the first 10 rounds when he did land on Fury?

    To make matters worse:

    - My arm was broken
    - I didn't feel good on fight night
    - The count was 14+ seconds long

Wilders rep went down significantly in the weekend, as many of the boxing casuals finally witnessed what boxing fans have been saying.
Wilder is a 1 trick pony. If he can't knock a guy out, he loses. Fortunately he had the money in the pocket to get the ridiculous scorecards to keep his career afloat.

The Gypsy King vs Donkey was basically The Gypsy King vs Pianeta sans the KDs. The KDs were the only bits of success Donkey had in the fight and he only got them because Fury got overconfident and careless because it was too easy for him and even then one of them was a back of the dome shot (Donkey's pet punch). Fury even had a lump of the back of his head after the fight which even the guy interviewing him confirmed he could see it when Fury showed it to him.

He’s still a bum with f.... silly power that bails him out far too many times, if you ask me. Never considered him a real, top level, boxer and most likely never will.
Fury is given praise by people who understand what condition he was in and what he had to overcome, considering his up to recent lifestyle, to fight for a belt. He made Wilder look silly all night, got knocked down due to being a dumbass and was later stiffed on the cards.
A bum with no skills but huge power vs undisciplined, non-athlete bloke who’s only in it for the **** of it and has mental issues (which, I believe, contribute to his boxing style) on top of everything. Somehow this ended up being an exciting matchup but I found very little quality there.

I picked Wilder via KO by the way, in hopes that I’ve been wrong about him all along.

I can't speak for others but I dislike calling fighters bums and I don't think of Wilder that way. He's clearly a superb athlete, disciplined and hard working. He shows up in fantastic physical shape and seems to maintain that lifestyle even out of competition. He deserves respect for his achievements in the sport. Even his harshest critics would agree he's one of the top heavyweights at present, so a big challenge for a guy that's not fought a world class opponent in 3 years and was 27 stone not long ago.

That said, his record is padded, his technique suspect, his choice of opponents often smacks of cherry picking and his time holding the green belt has not seen sufficient contests with genuine world class level fighters. He's stepped up in his last two fights, fought very bravely against a skilled if past prime Ortiz and stuck at it against Fury and came close to getting a KO victory before the judges gave him a draw that few observers really feel he deserves.

Watching the fight again...I'm reminded of the reasons I doubted Wilder. Basically all he has is a great right hand, a good chin, a warrior's attitude, and very good athleticism.....he's a good champion who makes for dramatic fights but let's not get carried away referring to him as on the level of Ali, Foreman, Holyfield etc.

Yes...everybody looks bad against Fury. But Wilder looked equally bad against Ortiz and Spilka and Washington.

Part of me wanted to see the bum fall but the other part is impressed by the toughness and tenacity Wilder exhibited as well as the serious approach towards pre-fight conditioning that almost produced the W for him.

I think Wilder is the only one who considers himself on the level with Ali, Foreman and Holyfield. I hope so, anyway.

He does deserve credit for maintaining the shape he’s in, it requires a lot of work, and self confidence in a way that he never stops trying.
That said.... not a lot to praise him for. Opposition? Lol. Skills? Oh, please. Personality? Loooool.
