Its been a few days now.... Tyson Fury's performance, was it historic?

I've done a full 180 on Fury.

Up to the first Chisora fight I thought he was a joke. After that he seemed like he could box. Dropped by Cunningham, I thought Wlad would slaughter him. When he did beat Wlad, it was because Wlad was to rigid in his game plan and took zero risks. I gave Fury little credit although I did acknowledge he did some nice boxing but it was more down to Wlad losing the fight than Fury winning.

I know out boxing Wilder was always a given. It was the manor in which Fury out classed Wilder. The gulf between levels was huge. He made Wilder look like an athletic Hughie Fury.

Getting up after looking unconscious in the 12th, how he handled the bad decision, when he said god bless America ffs and donating his purse to charity. How can you dislike this guy.

Quick mention for Wilder. He was supposed to have this China glass chin. He took full flush right hands from a man much heavier and stayed on his feet. Have to give credit where it's due.

Put any fighter from any other weight division in with Wilder or Fury and they get crushed.

 

They robbed him of the history. It was a screwjob draw, and that is it.

I very much agree with this. I saw a chubby guy who came off a long layout who avoided to get TKFO'd and a skinny guy with very low stamina hitting 99% air with his power punches.

 

I’d say it would have been historic if he’d done it to AJ. But Wilder is truly awful, he literally doesn’t know how to throw punches. I actually burst out laughing at the end of round 10 or 11 when he actually threw a punch in a downward slap motion, as if he was trying to pat Fury on the head.

 

How ignorant. If they weren't 6'9 or 6'7 clearly they would have developed a completely different skill set.

Maybe but styles make fights and these two put on one of the most entertaining Heavyweight title fights in recent years.

Legendary fight. An all time great performance by Fury.

 

Memorable yes but historic might be a stretch. Fury/Wilder was not for the majority of the belts and didn't involve who many feel is the consensus number 1 in the division.

Having said that this could be the first highlight in what could be a historic return for Fury. He's come from so far back with the weight, the doping, the drugs and the depression. If he goes onto beat AJ other than maybe George Foreman coming back to KO Moorer we will have seen one of the greatest returns from any boxer at any weight.

I've done a complete 180 on Fury as well. His ability can't be denied. I knew he'd out box Wilder but I didn't think he'd make Wilder look that bad and I didn't think he could take Wilder best punches and just get up like nothing had happened.

 

Wilder is a terrible boxer but his strength is power punching, and he has been effective with this, he nearly Knocked out a skilled boxer who outweighed him by over 3 stone, so people discrediting him is silly. I wouldn’t be surprised if wilder managed to put Joshua away, he is a worthy champ.

Fury defied the odds in a way you rarely see, it was an amazing spectacle, I not seen anything like it while watching a fight live, I can’t belive there are people that don’t appreciate it. It’s the kind of thing you see when looking at historical great moments in boxing. It had a feel of “making history” about it to me, I was glad I bothered to stay up and watch it, it was definitely a moment that will be remembered.

To me is was like seeing fury born as a real fighter, he showed what he is made of, I always wondered and was never really sold on him, this fight changed that, coming back from nothing. If he continues to be in shape he could make more history by beating wilder conclusively in a rematch then going on to outbox the slow lumbering Joshua. Joshua is dangerous but too slow and lacks stamina for fury. But the question is can fury maintain this form, that’s my only doubt about him at this point.

 

Pretty easy to get knocked down when your head is below your belly button and take a shot to the back of the head. Fury played himself by showboating.

 

Its historic as far as im concerned. Im still buzzing now, the same as i did an hour after the fight. I can see how anybody who doesnt know the stories of these fighters at all or know much about Boxing would of seen a bit of a boring fight with 2 exciting knock downs. Theres lots of fights like that why would that be so special?

But when you know the sport and know the stories of each of these fighters, all the ups and downs, controversy, criticisms of how they fight, who they fight and who they havnt or wouldnt fight, all the talk, all the troubles and soak it all up and pour it into the emotion of a fight like that then a fight like becomes amazing. This was much more than 2 guys having a fight to us and so it lifted the occasion big time. Which is just as well cuz the undercard sucked balls.

But if this fight doesnt go down as an historical classic i hope the last round does. Both men deserve a serious share of credit for it too. To me Deontay looked out on his feet, tired and running on empty but he pulled out an absolute pearler of a right hand and a sweet little left follow up and Fury looked out cold to me for seconds. Wilder proved he can be exhausted and still find the accuracy in his heavy tired arms to land a bomb and he proved he still carries the power to the bitter end too. Wilder may be a poor trainer and poor technical Boxer but what he has is some god damn dangerous equalizer and as long as he is on his feet it is cocked and loaded and good to go. Lethal. I wont mention his heart to keep going and to have faith, he proved that against Ortiz.

Then we come to Tyson Fury who had fought this fight so brilliantly, surprised many, shut alot of mouths. Was winning this fight on most peoples cards and then he got knocked out cold. OH ****. Game over man, i was gutted, at the very last hurdle after doing so damn well thats it, damn look at him the mans not even moving. DAMN DAMN IT. But i dont need to say what happened then and to the end of the round, but i could not believe my eyes. It was just an incredible end to a hell of an interesting, ugly, beautiful and most of all exciting fight.

Score cards aside the fight itself was something else thats for sure.
