yeah but Hrgovic looked like easy to counter and defence is not the best IMO! Johnson was stationary Target only trained for 3 days! in start of fight he did land some counters on herovic!
It wasnt the best performance, he destroyed a better fighter in mansour. His right hands werent effective against an old punch bag. So he should incorperated more body work and uppercuts.
Johnson is very durable, very good defensively, and very negative. That's what makes him so difficult to get out of there. There's a reason why he's only been stopped twice in 45 fights (and one of them was on a cut) and why he rarely ever gets dropped. AJ is the only fighter to stop him legitimately and he was heavier than Johnson when they fought each other whereas Johnson had almost 30lbs on Hrgovic tonight.
It was a solid performance against a fighter that has only ever been stopped legitimately once. I wasn't expecting him to get him out of there and certainly not blow him out early like some were predicting.
but there wasnt any variety to hrgovic's work and his punches look put and not sharp. i wasnt impressed, obviously he can beat many a HW doing that but i dont see much sharpness, a guy like cunningham could have made him uncomfortable. johnson is a 50year old overweight punchbag. please dont tell me hes anything else at this stage, solid my ass, solidly fat!
Exactly. Only AJ has blasted him out of there. He's a professional spoiler/stay alive type of journeyman.
I didn't watch the fight but Heavyweights have more off days than other weights. Every heavyweight has had off days. Boxing fans on forums are so quick to judge 100% on their most recent fight. Hrgovic was seen as very good, and then he fought Tom Little and took a few shots it was ah he's not that good, then he beat Amir Mansour convincingly and it was back to Hrgovic is the best HW prospect, and now he's gone the distance with the granite chinned punchbag Kevin Johnson and it's back to he's not that good.
There was variety maybe not enough but he did mix things up a bit. Hrgovic doesn't have a good left hook so he relies on winging the right hand to much but he did go to the body, threw a few uppercuts, and varied the right by coming round the side with it, and throwing it straight in addition to winging it over the top. Johnson is obviously past it but h's still very durable, very adept defensively, and difficult to get out of there and Hrgovic is not a massive puncher.
Not No Good, But you have to criticize otherwise you look like a fanboy. he dominated him easily but i can see problems in the future. And i was hyping him as the next biggest prospect. Everyone has off days but johnson doenst throw **** all
he managed perfect distance control in that fight. okay but johnson is longer a spoiler, a spoiler has an active defence not just a fat man with a solid chin.
Yes he's a very difficult guy to get out of there as his record attests. Dubois didn't floor him but I didn't give him any stick about not managing to get the stoppage or drop him because of how tough, tricky, and negative he is lol
i dont see anything tricky from Kevin Johnson. the only trick he seems to do is pretending hes not hurt when his brain is rattling around his head after a right hand.
