Suddenly Kellerman's story of the fight comments start to make sense.

I hear that a bunch. Why didn't you like big George?[/QUOTE]

There were times I thought he was fine and he's always likable. I just don't think he brought any deep knowledge to the fights. He had the problem a lot of former athletes have: they aren't critical enough. George always was nice. Angelo Dundee was the same when he called fights. Everybody is good and "anything can happen if he lands that big right hand". Or something to that effect. I just don't think George added much expertise. I can remember him saying something like "if he can put together two right hands he can turn this fight around." Kinda vague isn't it? "He'll have him in trouble if he lands one good shot to the booty". That's pretty close to something he said once! That's why Lampley or Merchant would say "what exactly do you mean there George? He still has the power to score a late ko?"

No he wasn't my favorite as an a commentator. Good guy though.

Hopefully DAZN - much as we may mock Hearn - can put together a platform which gives HBO-level output.

That is sad. That is the only reason lots of people have HBO. Big mistake by HBO. HBO will go under soon. Some how Showtime beat them out.

Good point. I wish SHO had More Fights though. I don't see Anything MORE listed for 2018, other than of course, DW/TF PPV, but That isn't regular SHO.

Very, very sad. HBO got me into the fight scene and kicked off my fandom.

Different strokes for different folks i suppose....but for me HBO was the gold standard in a boxing production. Jim, Emmanuel, Larry, George, Harold, Max and Roy all top notch. The production of the fights was vastly prefered to SHO or ESPN.

ESPN will likely have women calling the fights soon. Just dumb broads droning on.

SHO's announcers come off as hoe's too in my opinion. Paulie is just grating and cheerleaders for whomever he determines to be the "slicker" fighter with less punching power.

    Sad. Sad. Sad.

Beautiful feature piece overview of HBO Boxing from the last broadcast, including Roy, Max, and Jim's personal farewells. I love that they played the iconic intro and outro theme music from the 90s to close the show.
