Hurd was still a prospect when he fought Jojo and that was a late replacement also. It wasn't the greatest defense ffor Kell but I suppose it was at least a mandatory. The more I think about it the more I think he should just fight Jessie Vargas next. If he has anything left he will give Jessie a beat down. TBH most of the ridicule Brook and his fan boys get is hugely warranted, he only fought GGG for the money after all. Khan has 10x the resume Brook has and he still gets a ton of abuse, and a lot from Brook and his fans. If it is good enough to mock Khan surely it is good enough to mock Brook!!!!
Why does he get huge respect for taking the GGG fight, ffs I would fight AJ and Deontay back to back for 5mill LOL. I would fight GGG for 50k!! It was supposed to be a no lose situation for Brook, and it back fired majorly on him. GGG and Brook both mocked Khan and Canelo for that **** poor fight and they did the same thing lol
He lost to Golovkin, so now hes public enemy numero uno. People want to see him fail just to scold Triple G.
You would have my respect too if you fought AJ or Wilder. That respect would grow exponentially if you made it out of the first round and even more if you managed to land a shot. LOL
Before the injury in round 6, brook out landed and thrown more punches on target. He was up on all 3 judges cards by 4 rounds. Up to the 8th round it was even on the cards.
I'll tell you why. He's got exactly 1 good win. He then cashed out against GGG which he had no chance of winning. He then got smoked by Spence. Moves up to 154 saying he wants the champions - has yet to do anything of the sort. Suddenly says he can make 147 for Khan. The guy has wasted his prime chasing the Khan fight. After beating Porter he waited another 3 years before fighting someone worth a damn in his weight class again (and that was a mandatory anyway, though I did expect him to vacate do he can have SOME props for that). It's frustrating as Hell because the man can box but his career has been pretty meaningless for the most part. Khan lives in his head rent free.
Judges' cards - especially for a home fighter in the UK - are not barometers of how a fight panned out. Brook was doing fine until the halfway point but then Spence began to take over.
Brook looked fairly poor on Saturday, but harsh to write him off just yet. Plenty of fighters have had a poor performance, where they've taken the "W" and moved on, and looked good again in their next fights. Fair enough, if he looks terrible in next fight, then it's probably game over for him.
Everything Brook gets is justified, he is a good fighter but he wasted his talent and career because he made a lot of wrong moves at the wrong time.
Brook is a good fighter. He just came up against a tougher guy that did some serious damage to his face. Now, I can't say one way or the other what the outcome of the fight would have been if the injury had not happened but, Brook was giving Spence all he could handle. Brook just made some foolish career decisions in my opinion.
To be fair Porter's back yard of Cleveland is at least 2500 miles away from LA. Closer than Brook's back yard, but definitely not a hometown. Brook is a pretty solid warrior. I have respect for his run of opponents.
