Fury/Ali, utilizing a style combining great movement and great size for their era, beat a respected, hard hitting champ as big underdogs. Both go into exile. While gone, another fighter(s) emerge to take up the mantel (Frazier/WilderAJ). FuryAli returns in the first major post exile fight to fight (one of the) guy who emerged in his absence and visits the canvass in a failed attempt to win. I'm not claiming its a perfect analogy, certainly not as it stands. Ali did incomparably more after he won the title before his exile than Fury, no question. And Fury did better in his return than Ali, getting a draw which probably should have been a win, instead of a competitive loss. History doesn't repeat itself in identical fashions. But trends and strong similarities can be seen. Let's see where it goes from here. Will AJ/Foreman beat Wilder/Frazier? Will Fury have an easier time with AJ than he did with Wilder, just as Ali did with Foreman and Frazier, respectively? If the answers to that prove to be "yes", which is my suspicion, then we will have a great parallel to 1970's HW era.
AJ has a vastly higher ring IQ then Foreman so both Fury and Wilder are going to have trouble. We don't know.exactly what would happen if Ali.fights Foreman 3 times instead of Frazier. There's no easy time fighting Joshua if people didn't get the message yet they will, well maybe . I have a feeling after he clears out the current top ones it will be a repeat of Lewis's 90's era bc boxing fans despite social media haven't evolved much in fact they've devolved. lol
In my opinion there are alot of parallels.. I do believe that this era (this trio in particular) has the potential to be a historical one to rival other great eras. I feel fury has that something a little bit extra.. like Ali had.. that will make him the leading heavyweight of this era. I look forward to seeing how the fights pan out
