Could Billy in any way get a win over the Great Gene Tunney .Not a easy way round it .Conn of the first Louis fight v Tunney of the first Dempsey ft?

Tunney by close UD. Both are top 5 LHWs so it's close to call, but I think Tunney beat better opposition and had superior ring generalship

Tough fight Billy Conn was quite a fighter & Joe Louis not your average heavyweight (1st fight) Tunney was a big Lightheavy Decent sized Heavyweight (for his day) both men had great feet, movement and hand skills, quick and accurate punchers who could move well

Tunney may have the edge because of Dempsey and Greb but close matchup

Agreed on everything .But I actually see Tunney stopping Conn .Evenish fight for first half then Gene takes over .Billy sense's he's losing so attempt s more toe to toe fighting ,Which is fine for Gene who nails him sufficient for a ko stoppage .Around the 12 th is Billy's unlucky round .

There was bad blood between these two. Conn despised Tunney....and Gene had a certain contempt for Conn.

Love this matchup. I got Tunney by decision here, but Conn makes him work for every round of it.

This. Conn was an excellent fighter, but Tunney was even better.

You know, I've been trying off and on all day and I can't find the article where I read about it...but I'm not mistaken about it and I'll just keep on looking...and when I find it, I'll post a thread about it. (sorry)
