I wouldn't be surprised if we find out a whole host of things about Wilder in the near future. He strikes me as one of the shadiest fighters in the sport. Steroids is probably the tip of the iceberg.
I dislike Wilder just as much as the next sensible man, but the 250 lbs remark comes out of nowhere. The highest he has ever weighed in at is 229, and even then he never looked like a PED user. I generally don’t like accusations like this, when an athlete has never been caught tbh.
Yeah, he managed to lose 16 whole pounds and it only took him from January 2016 to December 2018 (NEARLY THREE YEARS) to do it. Somebody call the feds. He lost 16 pounds in 35 months. Good Lord. The guy is a walking steroid. Or SERIOD. (LOL) Anthony Joshua lost 12 pounds (254 to 242) in the FIVE MONTHS between Parker and Takam fights. FIVE MONTHS losing 12 pounds ... fine. 36 MONTHS losing 16 pounds ... "He strikes me as one of the shadiest fighters in the sport."
Haha your are one of the first to criticize AJ for "steroid" use! Hypocritical much! Its all well and good accusing one person of "steroids" but not others hey? sounds fair.
You’re obviously a little man, since you don’t understand how a guy with Wilder’s frame could gain or lose 16 or 20 pounds.
The guy is one is the skinniest, least muscular guys at heavyweight. If he’s on steroids, what on earth is Joshua taking??
I'm a big Wilder fan. I think he's one of the most entertaining heavyweight champions we've had in some time. His fights always provide action. That said, Wilder needs a new trainer. He needs a nutritionist. A new manager. He needs better sparring. He needs a lot of things. Everything he's accomplished, which is a lot, was done with raw power. That's it. His manager of record is Jay Deas. I have no idea who that is. He's also supposedly Wilder's Co-Trainer. I have no idea if he manages anyone else. Mark Breland is his trainer, too. Breland was one of the most accomplished amateur boxers ever, but he's taught Wilder nothing. And I don't know if Breland even trains anyone else. Who knows if Breland could train anyone. Wilder's been a champion for years. Instead of being, as one dork on this thread said, "one of the shadiest fighters," when Wilder retires, I think people are going to marvel at how much he accomplished given that he had little to NO help from his camp. There are so many areas where he could improve it's ridiculous. He's getting no help. Dibella is okay. Finkel is okay. I don't know if they're waiting until Wilder loses before they push him to get a new team of trainers or what. But I can't think of anyone today who is saying to a young fighter, "Do you know who you should sign as your manager? Jay Daes. And do you know who would be a good trainer? Mark Breland. In fact, Jay can be your co-trainer." NOBODy is saying that. Regardless, he's a fun fighter to watch. But Wilder's racked up so many injuries that you have to imagine have come from just poor technique that it'll end up cutting his career short.
Don't fall for it. Everytime a situation like the Fury/Wilder fight happens and there is a rematch, someone is accused of cheating, usually PED use accusations. Ward/Kovalev, Jacobs/G. No proof, just people hating certain fighters.
He made good money from the Fury fight and I hope he has someone looking after his best interest instead of just making money of off him. He does need better training and weight management. Reason I don't think he has a nutritionist is the weight. Coming in at 214 lbs for the biggest fight of his career means someone wasn't watching what he was eating or not monitoring his weight.
