You're talking big name fighters as exceptions. Fact is, big name fighters do well anywhere. The promoters choose America because there's more money to be made (bigger population).

Any updates on this or are we still at rumour stage? Rumours coming from Camp Wilder do seem to end up being a large exaggeration on what ends up being reality.

When was the last big main event in the UK featuring TWO guys NOT from the UK?

 

UK fans don't fall for this fake Nationalistic 'P4P' nonsense.

Fans won't regularly show up for big fights featuring TWO guys who aren't UK fighters.

They will if the fighters are actually a good standard, and not just handpicked off a fantasy list.



Guys like GGG and Kovalev only became big names from fighting US/NA fighters.

There is a long history of U.S. champions defending titles outside the U.S. And there is a long history of U.S. fans supporting boxers from different countries who choose to fight each other in the U.S., and NOT someone from the U.S.

We stage big fights all the time featuring two fighters who aren't from the U.S.

There apparently is ZERO history of UK fans welcoming two fighters from other countries to square off in a big event in their country and for UK fans to turn out to support them.

All we hear about is how GREAT UK boxing fans are. They're GREAT to UK boxers.

They are so bad at supporting boxers from other countries that apparently UK promoters (even with a billion to spend) won't put a world-class fighter outside the UK with another world-class fighter outside the UK in a bout staged in the UK, because they know UK fans won't show up to support them.

UK won't be a world-class boxing capital unless world-class fighters from different countries can fight there WITHOUT having to face a boxer from the UK in the main event.

 

I've given you reasons why.

Money, and demographics.

Wilder is like a spoiled child who always has to have his home advantage.

Genuinely great heavyweights of the past such as Tyson, Foreman and Ali were never afraid to face top opponents in foreign countries, but Wilder is not only inferior to them as a fighter, he lacks their courage.

 

Calm down - Americans and Brits just see competition differently. Americans like going to an event - popcorn, a beer, the entertainment. Brit’s are more tribal - it’s part of our culture - choosing a side to support and get passionate about. It’s why we chant our songs in the football stands, why there was hooliganism (bad as it was) and why we shout to give as much support / encouragement for our home boxers. Winning becomes everything. For Brits, not having a home boxer to support just wouldn’t make sense - Two different cultures
