Judging by his display v GGG is Canelo now better than anyone Floyd faced in his prime?

I feel Canelo has developed into a fantastic middleweight and looked great in beating a super middle the other day, if he meets and then defeats Callum Smith wouldn`t that rank him above all of Floyd`s former opponents?

If this version of Canelo fought Mayweather when he did I think the fight looks different. Maybe not a win but he seems to be getting better. He is only 28 and just entering his prime.

Have you moved on from AJ to Canelo now, Mark?

Lol Canelo will always have lead feet. Floyd is too fleet footed for him and was toying with him I hate to see what he did if he actually cared and tried lol

He'd also have an absurd weight advantage.

Canelo is like AJ. He's not great by any means but his size coupled with his decent technique makes him very difficult to deal with. Only someone who can baloon up like he does can deal with him. Some candidates would be; every full champ at SMW, Jacobs/Charlo/BJS at MW, Hurd or Munguia at SWW. Those would be proper wars.

No version of Canelo beats Floyd. Some judge called the fight a split decision. Hopefully I don't get a ban on this site for suggesting that the fight was wide in favor of Floyd Mayweather, but I thought the fight was wide in favor of Floyd Mayweather.

I think if a 28 yr old Canelo fought a 35-36 year old Floyd at 154, Floyd would win 8-4 and lose via robbery

Floyd was 36 years old when he beat Canelo easily winning just about every round except for the corrupt blind judge who made it a draw.

Yeah, but he's also a full fledged middleweight. I wouldn't pick anyone on Floyd's resume to beat him H2H.

As you said it yourself, he developed since. That's the key word. At the time he was a very talented fighter but it wasn't nowhere near today's version of Canelo. Floyd still fought a great fight that night, so U'm nit trying to discredit him, but on the other hand his fans are going to the opposite extreme, acting as if it was a similar version of Canelo as the one Golovkin fought, while it clearly isn't for many obvious reasons.

Floyd in his prime was fighting blown up 135 and 140 pounders, and a few past it welters. So yes, current Clenelo would be Floyd’s best opponent. Except that Floyd would never get in the ring with the current Clenelo.

Who is the best opponent in their prime that Floyd had ever fought?
