with the dazn deal i think the fighters are more sacrificial lambs than ever before, and the reason is, hearn needs to make stars out of his american fighters and the best way is to use his own fighters. Once they are back in the uk, they can sell the brave angle to the casuals. Hearn always goes on about doing it for uk fans but i am not convinced, whats espeically unfair is crollo is going to the us even if matchroom wins the purse bids
He’s number 2 ranked behind Linares, whom Loma has already beaten. You make out he’s being fed in some negative, underhanded way. He won an eliminator to fight him.
still fed thou, as its the only way hearn can get lomochenko on dazn. Hearns really good promoter for getting eliminators for his fighters
Well to be fair the opposition has to fight someone. So will just fight another guy other than u and will no doubt ko them also. Fielding got a career high payday for fighting canelo. He is the golden ticket in boxing, the whole reason fielding fights is to provide. A boxer can be hurt in ANY fight, ur next fight could be ur last, gotta take opportunities like this when they come along.
Lockett and Jennings have already been mentioned, but I would add Gavin Rees v Adrien Broner to the list as well.
Clarke/Vargas was a proper fairy tale. Clarke upset Papillion and got his title shot because of it. Clarke, his team, as well as his fans knew what an uphill battle it would be, but Howard did not disgrace himself against Fernando. It is also got Clarke a ton of work for the next few seasons. But then sadly Howard carried on as he gave prospects rounds, when even without hindsight you could see he needed to call it a day. And thus we end up where Howard is now...
I remember watching and was really rooting for him, but like you said he didn't disgrace himself or just lie down he had a good go.
I always thought Uncle Frank sending out John Murray to get bashed by Brandon Rios so he could get the UK rights to the Cotto v Margarito rematch was pretty rough.
Another one of our "Golden age of British boxing" brutally exposed. There will be no-one left soon to headline Sky's domestic bills.
