A primer: how 10-counts work (if a fighter is knocked down) and how they don't...

If we go by the logic of the Wilder fans then its not even an issue as Wilder lost vs Ortiz as he needed that extra time and thats against the rules and instead the fight was stopped and Ortiz won, so this fight was actually Ortiz vs Fury and Ortiz didnt knock Fury down in the 12th so infact Fury is now the belt holder!

Fury got up on solid legs, took another full swinging shot then put his arms behind his back and came back strong.
Watch it with the count down clock in the corner. The count of 1 would be at 2:24. When Fury gets completely up it is 2:15 which is 9 seconds.
The ref was not slow in his count as it matches up with the clock

In my opinion a lot of boxingfans (and sadly even some boxing officials) interpret the rules as fits them most at the time.
The 10 count is only an example, as we've seen (borderline) late or punches when down be called for immidiate DQ at one point, and then get completely ignored at another time. Regardless of what the actual rules say, but rather which fits the fighter they want to win.
Also other rules that can completely turn over the result of the fight, like the various "saved by the bell" options, from which some are unknown, no longer in use or alphabet org/country/state specific.
For instance, mostly a 20 second count is in effect when one fighter is knocked out of the ring, and a fighter can only be stopped in the final round after 3:00 if he can't get up on his own within the 10 count. After that, it doesn't matter which state he's in, even if he falls back down again because the fight is instantly over after rising, or even only starts rising (IBF).

I've seen so many instances in which people called for the result being overturned without the actual rules backing that.

Fury beat the refs count, sure. I had him winning too. Had that been the ref that counted out Foreman vs Ali, he would have been counted out. Foreman was counted out too fast imo.

Yeah he didn't beat any legitimate count, he beat Reiss's count though, his bogus count.

Even ignoring the OP in question pointing out this wouodnwo matter, the fact you can actually watch a YouTube video, timestamped, with the footage and see that this isnti even remotely true anyway would just confirm your saltiness at someone eating Wilder's best punch and beating the count.

It's so untrue, in fact, Wilder himsel had to post a video with a doctored timer on social media to keep this nonsense going.

He hits the canvas at 2:21 and his knee is off the canvas at 2:12 on the round clock, which DOES count in seconds.

The ref picks up the count from the time keeper if he's out if position for any reason.

Fury was fine and would have just got up sooner , he was TALKING to him ( the ref ) while on his back.....

    End thread! :stop:

Fact of the matter is, that video is completely 100% real and it shows that more than 10 seconds elapsed between Fury falling on his backside and getting up.

    That's not the argument though.

The real argument is whether or not Reiss deliberately counted slowly to give Fury more time, and the answer is yes - it's undeniable.

I've investigated into this matter and compared/contrasted Reiss' other counts, and there was a HUGE disparity.

We are on the exact same page in regards to that fight, I just couldn't voice it because I was banned

113-113, and it really was a long count.

Except that in the case of Wilder-Ortiz, that was (as I understand it) the byproduct of a requirement for all matches in New York. Wilder-Fury was in Nevada, but regardless, it wasn't a KO in either case. Fury beat the ref's count.

Room for one more? I want in on that!

Honestly the big Wilder/Fury KD in the 12th isn't remotely controversial, to me. Truly. And while I dislike both, I dislike Fury a bit more for various reasons and was super confident in picking Wilder to win. So there isn't any agenda there from me, unless it's "opposite day" which, well, seems to be happening a lot on this forum.
