Q: Is Penfold taller than his seven year old son? A: Yes, but only if he is standing on a sand dune. This content is protected
Lennox Lewis is an employee of PBC and Al Haymon. His view on PBC fighters and their rivals should be taken as seriously as Bernard Hopkins' views on GBP fighters. The fact that Lewis is also friends with Wilder, and has been critical of Joshua for years, proves the bias he starts from.
Coldwell is making it personal by dredging up stuff from 20+ years ago. Lewis is talking about the here and the now.
Lewis is just a bit out of time, he doesn't understand the mentality of not chasing big fights, to this day it grinds at him that he couldn't prove he was better than Bowe in the ring. Its difficult to point direct blame though isnt it? I mean aren't both parties putting up hurdles? I think Lewis is right to be frustrated that this fight has not happened but putting all the blame on Joshua might be a bit unfair. Maybe AJ should make concessions just to make it happen, which might be where Lewis is coming from, but he himself wasn't willing to take a major cut in order for the Bowe fight to happen so how far do you go with that? I think AJ, Wilder and their management are all idiots for letting this fight slip away from its prime time slot, they pretty much missed the boat, Wilder nearly lost and the rematch wouldnt be a dead cert for him. I'm not Lewis's biggest fan but compared to these guys he is the man, he might not have got his biggest wins from notable fighters like Holyfield and Tyson in their prime but he chased those fights and wanted them to happen sooner.
Penfold's looking quite buff there. He's been working out. Maybe he knows his days as a coach are numbered and he's going to focus on being a male model for midgets.
To be fair, Lewis is being paid to put the blame entirely on Joshua. He can't exactly blame his employers so he has to ignore many of the revelations from Wilder and his team.
Lewis doesn't strike me as the type to be paid to voice an opinion. This isn't Carl Froch and Johnny Nelson we are talking about.
He wouldn't have struck me as that type either, until he started criticising Joshua with regularity not long after the new PBC Fox deal was announced. He's basically turned into PBC's Bernard Hopkins. Otherwise why not acknowledge that PBCs VP of Communications revealed that Al Haymon doesn't want AJ - Wilder yet, Wilder doesn't want AJ - Wilder yet and Finkel simultaneously wants Hearn to provide a date and venue but refuses to discuss a deal with an already set date and venue.
Beat Bowe in the Olympics anyway, Bowe didn't want to fight him as a pro to the point he vacated a belt lol!
