I think Steele made a very poor decision in using his discretion to stop the fight there but I understand why he made it and I’m fine with people arguing in favor in it. The only people who annoy me are the ones who try to argue that Steele *had to* stop it.
Vitali's fanbase that sprung up after the fight with Lewis was annoying and still exists to an extent, shouting for a rematch and that Lewis was scared.
Other than Mendoza I didn’t know Vitali even had a fan base, although he has hammered that position relentlessly enough for a fan base
Back in 2003 right after the LL-Vitali fight the debate between VK fans and LL's on forums was heated and seemingly never ending, I'm pretty sure there was a mega thread about the fight on this forum that lasted for years.
I am a Loma fan...or at least an appreciator. But I don’t spend much time on general to have much dialogue with them. But both on general and classic I find detractors more annoying than most fan bases. But there are certainly a few
I was a huge Hopkins fan back when I first started boxing and tried to box exactly like him. Then I remember watching an interview with him saying he is a better fighter then Hagler. I turned my back on him since then and never looked back. He drops some jewels now and then in interviews but he one of those guys who likes to talk themselves up too much.
Big fan of Rob Mccracken both fighter and trainer but when he was at his best some of his local fans were complete animals !
