Referring to Marciano on several occasions as “white boy” would appropriate a question as to ones motives.

    I haven't seen those references.
I'm looked on as a Rocky hater by his fans ,and I'm white what is my motive?
    Not being an "Italian American"?

I never said you had a motive but I do think your fascination with taking him down a few pegs is strange while high lighting the careers of fighters who ducked the best in their division or rigged fights....and nothing wrong w being Italian American lol

My interest is in correcting hero worshipping fanboys, not attacking Marciano the man & fighter. Which fighters do you say I highlight?

Was referring to Dempsey and Johnson two fighters I know you like and place above Marciano. I am a fan of Marciano’s...and Ali and Foreman and will openly admit somewhat biased towards them as fighters as I hold them in high regards. But not a fan boy lol no delusions of grandeur. Every fighter has weaknesses and blemishes on their resumes.

I don't like Johnson ,his style turns me off ,I just enjoy correcting the compulsive liar Mendoza who has a phobic hatred of him and will post any lie about him that suits his agenda.
I do place both Johnson and Dempsey above Marciano H2H. I made this thread because I thought posters would find it interesting I made no negative comments about Marciano when I did it,and lo and behold all his fan club came out of the woodwork defending him from accusations I haven't made.
Seriously some of you need to get a life!

I was exaggerating, but theses gloves do look huge. I don’t they were necessarily smaller, just not as well made.

And every great fighter had their struggles with guys like Lowrey. Tyson had Tillis. Foreman had Peralta. Liston had Sumerlin and Whitehurst. So you cannot Accuse me of trying to excuse anything that hasn’t happened to many other equally great heavyweights.

The size of the guy dosnt come into it either. It’s the same for everybody else.

Listen, when you can come up with something rational I shall be happy to debate you on it.

The size/ weight issue you have with old heavyweight fighters only gets relevant after about 1960. Every giant fighter before that lost to guys twenty or thirty pounds lighter. So it’s kind of ludicrous to raise weight difference as a heavyweight factor in world championship history before 1960. It’s a non issue. They didn’t have what it took for big guys to be great yet. For 100 years The best 190 pounders could beat everything out there.

Lol when you understand that Marciano was a bum and only won the title because the Italian Mafia controlled boxing then you can type to me. When you understand that there has been no 5'10 180 pound heavyweight champion since the 50's for a reason then you can type to me. When you are smart enough to realize boxing was in its baby stages until maybe the 60s on then you can type to me.

You Marciano fans and your excuses. If you honestly think guys like Jess Williard, Prime Canera, Abe Simon, Buddy Baer were modern skilled fighters then maybe you shouldn't be watching or typing about boxing. It is clearly too much for you. As you noticed sad little Rocky Marciano fan I typed modern 205 pound heavyweights could and would destroy Rocky Marciano. So 205 plus pound fighters before Marciano who had no skills by modern standards aren't a part of the equation.

I said I wouldn’t debate with you on this until you can say something rational. If you think you are in the majority in believing Marciano was a bum why don’t you post a poll to see if anyone agrees with you?

yeah yeah yeah. Rocky was a phoney a paper champion? I wonder why nobody believes this on classic? Probably because fighters like Sonny Liston, (who modern fans approve of) were mob controlled too. You want to throw the bath water out with the baby in it? I thought not. Next!

And that reason might just be that modern sports science was able to finally help bigger men become better at boxing and stop the giants becoming cannon fodder to the 190 pound heavyweights.

no. I don’t think you are on the majority with this claim at all. Put a poll up to see how many posters on classic think boxing before the 1960s was in its baby stages. I dare you.

so only fighters that can exist in time zones that Marciano was unable to experience are part of the equation?

Like I said before, get back to me when you have something rational to say. Perhaps After you post some polls?

Lol do you know who most of the people on this forum are? Of course they are going to think Rocky Marciano the tomato can is a great fighter. On that note you are blocked. I won't waste any more time with you. Keep living in your sad little fantasy world where 180 pound club fighters like Rocky Marciano could beat modern skilled and modern sized fighters. Dismissed!!!

You can always tell when somebody has ran out of points to make. They quit.

Sometimes it’s worth losing the argument in order to win the truth. I genuinely Hope he learned something.

BS! Tillis wasnt a light heavyweight journeyman who never came within light years of a ranking!
Peralta was top ten ranked 3 months before the green16 fight Foreman beat him.Foreman clearly won the fight.
Summerlin was a ranked heavyweight Sonny was having his 6th and 7th fights Whitehurst was knocked clean out of the ring in the 2rd fight and was in the process of climbing back in when the final bell rang to save him from a ko.
Liston beat him by scorecards of 48-39,50-40,50-37.Unanimous decision!

Marciano had 21 and 30 fights when Lowry took him the distance!
Many thought Lowry won the 1st fight and reports say he had Rocky in trouble .
Anyone think Whitehurst or Summerlin deserved the nod in any of their fights with Liston?
You need to get over this obsession you have with Sonny and George, it's not only drearily repetitious ,it's lazy and totally inaccurate!

Here is something else funny about tomato can Rocky Marciano. Not only did 160-170 pound Ted Lowry beat Marciano in their first fight and got robbed and almost knocked out Marciano. It is that the fought again and 180 pound glorified club fighter Marciano still couldn't hurt a 160-170 pound Lowry with his amazing Marciano punching power. What is even more funny is Billy Fox a natural 160-170 pound fighter fought Lowry 2 times and in both fights he floored Ted with his punching power. But yeah Rocky Marciano could knockout guys 220 to 250 pound guys like George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Oliver McCall, David Tua, Vitali and Wladmir Klitschko, Anthony Joshua, Riddick Bowe, and countless others. That is called biased Rocky Marciano fanboy logic.
