Nowadays Wilder just wants to face (and is in fact) facing the best. Joshua, is a different story, his manager Eddy Hearns does not want risky fights for him at this stage.

Lol Wilder facing the best casual fan? I am assuming you mean Tyson Fury. Yeah Tyson Fury is a living legend because he ran from a 40 year old Wladimir Klitschko and landed 86 punches in 12 rounds. Wilder's best win was over fat 39 year old Wlad and fat 37/39 year old Bermaine Stiverne. So as I stated Wilder and AJ should fighting Oliver McCall since they both love to fight old men.

By taking on Ortiz and Fury, Wilder proved that he is willing to face the best.

Lol yeah by fight a 40 year old overweight Ortiz and a glass chin coke head in Tyson Fury proves Wilder is willing to face anybody. Looks like we have a Deontay Wilder fanboy here. Wilder will avoid fighting AJ like I said and AJ will avoid fighting Wilder. Wilder will also avoid Jarrell Miller and anybody else who isn't 40 like Ortiz and a coke head like Fury.

Ortiz and Fury are generally recognized as Top 5 heavyweights. It would be interesting to see which heavyweights you rank above them? (LOL)

Who gives a rats behind how they are rated you casual boxing fan. The heavyweight division is trash. It has been that way since Lennox Lewis retired. Every current heavyweight is either fat , on PED's, or fat on PED's. The skill level is so trash we are praising people like Tyson Fury for running and calling it boxing. We are praising Wilder for knocking out old men. That being said even in this horrible era for heavyweights Fury still has a glass chin and can't punch. That is why Wilder faced him and for a bigger payday. Wilder faced Ortiz because he is a fat 40 year old guy who has high blood pressure.

First of all, I have been following boxing since 30 years so find it quite amusing that you call me a casual fan that way. Then, the heavyweight division may have seen better days for sure, but that is excactly how relevant to the discussion? Or do you expect Wilder to face heavyweights from the past?(LOL)

Wilder is facing the best available. Again, which other CURRENT heavyweights are better than Ortiz and Fury? I am interested in your opinion, really.

I'm wondering what they are planning for McCall. They are making noise about wanting all the top guys, which is obligatory, but farfetched. Their other heavyweight, Justin Jones, is 36 and still fighting 8s.

Maybe the plan is for McCall to fight Jones? I know they are paying McCall's rent and a salary but I don't know how much.

Sorry, I'll jump in. It's been well documented how poor WIlder's record is so I won't go over old ground. However, I would say that Joshua at least is potentially better than Fury and certainly better than Ortiz. I also think that Whyte and Povetkin are both better than Ortiz.

Regarding Wilder, it remains to be seen what happens with him. He looks like he doesn't want the Joshua fight which leaves him the Fury rematch and his mandatory with Breazeale. I would not be very much surprised if he fights Breazeale next, which is the weakest of the 3 suggested opponents available to him.

It seems pretty obvious thar Eddy Hearn dors noz the Wilder stage at this stage.
It seems pretty obvious that Eddy Hearn does not want the Wilder fight at this stage. He is thinking money with low risk, milking the title with some title defenses in the UK where there is now a huge market. Fury and Ortiz are Top 5 heavyweights so yes Wilder is NOW willing to face the best. You would certainly place Joshua above Ortiz, placing him above Fury is a closer call but can be justified.I would favour Ortiz over both Whyte and Povetkin. Even if you disagree, the fact remains that Fury and Ortiz are top heavyweights,

He was scheduled to fight May 10 and my friend is/was helping him prepare for upcoming fights. The fight yesterday didn't happen so they are sparring with Justin Jones today instead. My friend texted me the other day wanting to know what he is supposed to tell a former heavyweight champion in the gym.

He says the Atomic Bull is a really funny guy, keeps everybody laughing.
