Crawford V Khan - is this the biggest FU in sky boxing history?

I pointed out another 4 times in Khans career in another thread where he took far less money, than he would have got to face Brook. So th excuse about only “facing the best” and that’s why the Brook fight “hasn’t come off” is ridiculous.

It’s clear he is trolling everyone and is never going to take the fight.

A Brook fight on PPV earns him far more money than a fight against Crawford even at this late stage. But it’s his career. Perhaps he doesn’t need the money?

 

Well the reasons for him not choosing Crawford over Brook

- it’s less money
-it’s not the fight people want
-it’s a harder fight and a guaranteed KO loss
-he has already proven in his career that he doesn’t have the chin to compete at elite level, and now he is older and inactive this is just going to get worse.
-he is on the verge of retiring and fighting for money and not to build towards a legacy or be the best he can be

 

Khan doesn't deserve to fight the best. Since the loss to Canelo he's run off into the jungle (and been inactive for 2 years) and fought poor opposition such as Lo Greco and Samuel Vargas.

Why does Kahn deserve a shot against Crawford over guys like Shawn Porter or Danny Garcia?

 

Crawford is great, but who has he beat that Khan wouldn't be favourite against?

Khan's win over Maidana trumps anything Crawford has done.

 

F Brook

 

Bloody hell, I have never seen a British world champion get as much stick as Khan. It's his career, and if he wants a fight against one of the best in the world then that's his choice and given what he has achieved in his career, he is entitled to a choice. Brook on the other hand will be forgotten about in the next 5/10 years, whilst Khan will go down as one of the best this country has produced in recent times (look at his achievements and who he has fought).
Brook has no other options than to fight Khan because he has been terribly mismanaged and has consistently avoided the big names!

 

Fighting Crawford for a World title is a big fight for anyone , sure Khan is being brought in as an opponent but on paper he is one of Crawford’s more accomplished opponents. Not sure how much Amir is getting paid but who can blame him if he wins another payday if he loses he figures the Brook fight can be a cash out ...kinda win win .

 

It's just about pride now for Khan in regards to a Brook fight, he isn't scared of losing fights anymore but he is scared of losing to Kell, the hate is real between them and a loss to his nemesis would be a massive and enduring blow to his ego.

 

He really won't. Maidana is a standout win, but other than that he beat fighters that were generally losing at world level. Barrera was obviously a shell, Judah was well past his best, and Alexander, Malignaggi, Collazo etc almost always lost when at elite level. Khan deserves credit for handling Kotelnik better than anyone else, but that was a real clash of styles in his favour.

Offset against that is all his crushing losses. You can forgive him for getting bombed out by Canelo, but Prescott is a real blemish on his record that is difficult to overlook. Khan was matched very strategically against light punchers whenever possible, and the suspicion based on fights like Diaz, Gomez and Limond, is that what happened against Garcia would probably have awaited him against most of the top guys at 140 and 147.

He has a better record than Brook, but with Brook you're talking about one of the worst talent:resumé ratios of any fighter from these shores.

 

My point is that he will go down as one of our best recent fighters. Olympic silver at 17, World Champ at 22, unified champ in a tough division, fought 13 or so world champs. Not many people will achieve what he has at such a young age, but he will never get the credit he deserves!
