Three of the heavyweight histories lineal champions (if that even means anything any more).

Despite all three ruling the same division there's clear difference in weight here with one guy being a CW sized man, one guy being a HW sized man and one guy being a SHW sized man.

Put all 3 in a prime for prime round robin matchup, let's say the version of each that won HW gold. So Rocky from Walcott 1, Liston from Patterson 1 and Briggs from Foreman 1 (I know there was no rematch but I wanted to keep the pattern going).

How do you see these 3 matching against each other?

If I'm going to be honest here, I think liston would beat rocky and Briggs by stoppage. The fight id really love to see here would be marciano vs Briggs, both are hard hitters.

Marciano fought several guys more skilled than Briggs but I'm not sure he ever fought a man with Briggs power or size, marcianos worst opponent would be one with one hitter quiter power like Briggs has but Briggs has never been a world beater like Rocky has, slight edge towards the rock but would not be surprised if Briggs won by t.k.o.

Liston stops Marciano on cuts in 9.
Liston stops Briggs by ko round 8 .
Marciano v Briggs turns in to a war ,with a massive upset ,as Briggs Hurt's and stop's Rock in the 10 th round !

Liston Marciano would be some match...I’m picking Rocky only because I think Liston quits on his stool when he realizes he can’t stop Marciano. Briggs looses to everyone.
Ps not 100 pct confident Rocky wins but the Ali fights really put a souring on Liston for me. Had he performed better (not saying he should have won) and been competitive I’d probably have a different take.

Liston beats both, he stops Marciano inside 8 and takes a dec off of "The Cannon" who had a very good chin.

Liston and Briggs are tailor made for Marciano. Liston was too one dimensional and lacks the cleverness for me to see him landing clean enough to take Marciano out and Liston’s inside game was mediocre. Briggs on the other hand was a paper champion and wouldn’t have ranked in the 50’s.

Liston, with his lanky arms, would struggle immensely with Marciano's explosive dart and dash and infighting. Marciano was also the superior puncher, as his power carried 15. A bloody Marciano wears Liston down and KO's him, late rounds.

Briggs shouldn't be compared to either. I'd pick both over Briggs by mid round knockout

Liston is tailor made for Marciano?Oh ,okay.
The following fighters were ranked in the top ten in the 1950's. Some for several years
    Alex Mittef
    Billy Hunter
    Jack Gardner
    Johnny Williams
    Brian London
    Karel Sys
    Heinz Neuhaus
    Joe Erskine
    Roy Harris
    Pat McMurtry
    Jimmy Slade
    Lee Oma
    Bob Dunlap
    John Holman
    Dan Bucceroni
    Charley Norkus
    Young Jack Johnson
    Harold Carter
I would pick Briggs to beat all of those listed.

You seem to have a high opinion of Briggs, but many of the guys you listed wouldn’t be intimidated by Briggs’ size and would use their superior skill and would decision Briggs.

The bigger guys you listed such as Y. Jack Johnson in my opinion fought and beat better competition than Briggs did.

I dont have an especially high opinion of Briggs but I have an even lower one of those names I listed and the 1950's heavies in general.
    I'll amplify that by stating categorically that ,imo Briggs beats;
    Layne
    Brion
    Lastarza
    Cokkell

    As well!
To state Briggs would not be ranked in the 1950's is ludicrous imo.

    Marciano is made for Liston.
If Sonny could pick any style to fight, a short armed, come forward, short swarmer with a porous defence ,slow of foot and not fast of hand, with a tendency to cut, who weighed typically185lbs, would be top of his Xmas present list.

Marciano never faced a jab like Sonny's, and he never faced a puncher like Sonny who was 212lbs and in his prime . Old Louis busted Marciano up with the remnants of his jab, Liston would carve him up like a side of beef. Marciano is outreached by16 inches! He would be tagged before he even got into his own punching range, and once he gets close he is faced with trying to outmuscle a guy nearly 30 lbs heavier who hits as hard if not harder. The idea that Liston 's inside game is not great is belied by the film footage we have to view whoever got the better of him in close? Sonny threw short hooks and uppercuts inside and worked the body very efficiently. He would ruin Marciano

Old Luis didn’t bust anything up. He got destroyed that fight...destroyed by a less then prime Marciano. Wasn’t competitive in the slightest and the outcome was never in question. For your previous question Liston was in four 15 round fights giving up in two of the four. Mentally Liston loses this fight. The “cuting” of Marciano is overstated. He cut occasionally and only once the Charles fight was it in danger of being stopped. Liston quits on his stool in 6. Luis for the record weighed what Sonny weighed for that fight and it was clear Rocky was far stronger
