Was Ali impervious to being knocked out? Was his chin that good...even at the end he was never knocked out cold.

Ali had one of the best chins of all time. This becomes more obvious when you consider his competition.

It wasn't his best attribute, but his chin was top class.

Nothing more needs to be said.

Logically No Fighter is immune from being able to be knocked out
    - A fighter might only be immune from being Knocked out by the competition he has to face

Many Feel James J Jefferies, could not be Knocked Out, he was a bear of a Man, certainly against Messers Corbet Sharkey and Fitzimmons, so it is not surprising that he was not knocked out by these lesser physical specimens, But Put Jefferies in with a George Foreman and we may well of seen Jeff Knocked Out.. Jeff was only "Non-Ko'able by his opporsition

With Ali, you do get a quadruple Whammy of Obtacles which make Ko'ing Him - By the opporsition available to him...a "well nigh" Impossible feat,

1/ His Mobility - Ist you have to catch him

2/ If Cornered - his Space Perception ability to Slip Ride Shots

3/ His Ability to Negate, block & Tie-Up

4/ if you do get through, his Durability, will, and determination

Ali therefore may be the Hardest to Ko - as exampled in Ali Frazier 1st
A massive Left Hook in the 11th had Ali on ***** Street, From the Fog he survived, and after 14 rounds of Prime Frazier Hell, he gets Nailed on the Button by a Fantastic left Hook, Ali gets up at Three, Negates then Starts to fight back...truely Remarkable

But Ali was Human and was therefore biologically, like any Human, capable of Being Ko'ed - if Hit Right of Often Enought, its just the quality of the opponent who has not been able to manage it

A young Ali/clay was nearly Ko'ed by Henry cooper, but the shot landed at the end of the round and Clay's fall was cushioned by the Ropes, (notwithstanding the torn glove controvercy) it may be that little bit of Lady Luck that Prevented Ali Having a Ko Loss on his Record, Some people think that A precision Puncher Like Joe Louis could KO Ali
(i tend to think Ali Outspeeds and Manouvers Joe)

But at the End of the Day All Fighters, Ali Included are Human, with Human Fralties, and Biologically can be Ko'd given the right Impactal force, be it Sudden or Repeated

It just makes it more remarkable what Fighters can, do and did Endure

ali was never out cold because he never got hit right on the button... he was always able to roll with the punch at least a little bit... he ever rolled with fraziers left hook a little bit and frazier was too tired in the 14th round to throw anything with full power.... ali did once get caught flush and that was a left hook from henry cooper and he got dropped like a brick...lucky the bell saved him and angelo dundees criminal actions otherwise ali would have been in a lot of trouble in that fight i believe.... anyway anyone will be dropped if they are hit accurately enough so to sum it up i think ali had one of the greatest chins ever... however i do think the best chin actually belongs to a kickboxer... mark hunt.

He faced the biggest punchers in the history of the sport: Liston, Foreman, Shavers, Frazier, and patterson. if someone had anything but an excellent chin, these guys will definitely expose it.

The way Ali got up from that monster Frazier left hook (after all those tough, tough rounds, no less) has always amazed me. The man was carved out of iron.

Ali's ability to take body shots was even more impressive than his ability to take it upstairs.

Ali had an excellent chin, but also was very good at playing it off when he was hurt or stunned.
