The morning update of June 20th at 9:07 AM EDT reveals that there have been 83 vites recorded. By a margin of 61-22, Cotto will defeat Margarito. The pattern remains steady with Cotto fans just slightly favoring a decision victory over a KO victory. Margarito voters see a KO victory as the only way to win the belt. As always, keep the votes and posts coming as we are now 36 days away from the main event.

Margarito will beat him up and stop him late.

I am amazed how Margarito's fans have not voted for Margo to win a UD in this fight... As a Cotto fan I predict a KO but my boxing hart tells me that is Cotto by UD.

imo cotto by decision, cotto is a smart boxer and i think he'll be in defensive mode against margarito's aggression but its possible that his body shots would worn off margo and probably lower his activity in the later rounds but i couldn't just see a KO by cotto as margo is one hell of a tough fighter

All Margarito supporters believe that he will win by KO whereas by 40-33, Cotto voters see a decision win as opposed to a KO victory. The edge has to go to Cotto.

But outside of Mosley and maybe Torres, I expect this to be his toughest fight. Margarito could well stop him but I think Cotto's defense is good enough to take this 12 rounds, in which Cotto definitely has the edge.

But you never know. If it's a war...I expect both guys to get hurt.

I also think there's a psychological factor here...the only time Cotto has had someone in front of him that could take his shot with no problem was Mosley...and Cotto faded in the later rounds in that fight.

That kinda thing can take your spirit away...especially from a guy like Cotto who is known for his huge punch. He's going to have a guy in there with him who likely can take everything he throws at him with no problem.

And unlike Mosley...Margarito isn't going to be going in-out-in-out...he is going to try to get his head in Cotto's chest all night and land leather, every moment of every round.

So it is going to be pretty interesting.

The voting update for June 22 at 9:20 AM EDT reveals that we have 100 votes in this poll. Nothing has changed except the number of votes. By a margin of 75-25, Cotto is expected to win the fight. 40 of the 75 Cotto voters believe victory will come via KO whereas the remaining see it as a decision. I should start to ask people if a decision victory will be unanimous, majority, or split. All Margarito voters believe their man will win only by KO/TKO. Again keep the thoughts and votes coming as we are know 34 days away from the main event.

magro. i've been saying for some time he'd beat cotto if they ever fought. dude is just too big, too strong and has a cast iron chin. it'll be a war while it lasts, but margo is just too strong for cotto.
