https://www.heraldscotland.com/news...-statue-in-memory-of-boxing-hero-benny-lynch/ Money has been raised to erect a Statue of Flyweight great Benny Lynch in Gorbals, Scotland but even though Lynch is probably the greatest Scottish boxer of all time he also had convictions for Domestic violence and Child abuse (one incident he hit his 11 year old sister in law and also threatened to kill his 18 month old son and in another disturbing incident he touched two very young girls (7 & 10) in a Cinema). During his career he was also convicted of drink driving after crashing into a telegraph pole and a pram injury a 12 week old baby and driving away from the incident. While unquestionably a boxing great, surely in the #metoo era we live in he is a bad choice for a statue, maybe the money raised would be better off going to boxing programs in the Gorbals instead. Thoughts?
