I see where the thread talks about an 187 pounder Holy is beating a lot of prime heavies in the nineties... I totally disagree that a 187 pound Holy is as great as people think and could just beat everyone in the heavies at that time. Is there real evidence that Holy took steroids and if he did, what would his career have been like had he not taken the steroids?

Yes there is strong circumstantial evidence.

He never failed a drugs test, but he was caught buying them.

Likely. According to Tommy Morrison, lots of guys were on it back then including himself.

Then youre fortuned with not wearing Hero-Glasses and posessing common sense.

I think Holyfield could (and maybe) did make it to 205 without anabolics. For the next ten pounds of fatless muscle, he looked much bulkier and not natural for me. He grew to trimmed 217 (Bowe 2) and 218 (Tyson 2).
Keep in mind that Holyfield @ 190 was shredded, as well as 205. You might find some fighters with "natural" 220, that you could shred to 205 with higher work ethics, who seem to have a natural 220 weight. Like Luis Ortiz beeing bigger than George Foremen, by just looking at weights. Twisted reality.

Yep he likely was on them just like most of his rivals would have been on them.

Delts, upper chest and traps are all effected more by steroids, so steroid users are more developed in those areas. I'll leave people to make up their mind.

Yes. Probably. But it didn't give him that much of an advantage because pretty much everyone else was on them so for me it doesn't affect his legacy.

My opinion yes. One of the dead giveaway 's for me that hasn't been mentioned is how rapidly his neck ballooned with muscle. As a life long neck worker I found those results impossible without roids

This is it, really. Roids were out there and there were hardly any testing done, so most top fighters were likely on them.

    likely but no real proof.

as opposed to fury DID take peds once, proven fact.

as opposed to Vitali did take them at least once proven fact.

as opposed to roy jones took them once, proven fact.

so on face of it hes less of a proven cheat than them.

Frankly, I think Holyfield is as likely to have been clean as Lance Armstrong.

I think that a 187 pound Holyfield could have beaten some good 200+ pound heavies. But I don't think he'd have beaten a Bowe, Tyson or Lewis while weighing 187 pounds. I think he needed the extra weight

His body shows visible signs of PED use.
He has medical conditions that can be caused by PED use.
A name very similar to his was linked to a PED bust. (Evan Fields)
The phone number connected to said name was his.

its not solid evidence if its circumstantial.

Whereas those caught its 100% an attempt, Fury, Vitali, jones remain cheats for at least one attempt and thats one more than Fields i mean Evan i mean Holy.
