Badou Jack's cut

Jack knew he was cut bad I'm pretty sure of that, you don't need a mirror to confirm it and I think he would have been affected mentally. He also knew at one point the cut was worsened, even the commentators mentioned after a punch he was feeling at it. The corner telling him to pressure for a disqualification is one of the most alarming things I've heard from a corner especially with a boxer in that condition. They're basically saying you've lost this fight unless he's DQ'd and don't worry that your face/head is gaping wide open. The ref and doctor should be answering some serious questions aswell, this is a guys career, it's not a little nick as we can see and that area of skin is potentially weakened significantly.

Top and bottom of it is Jack's corner knew the fight was gone so pull him. The doc and ref are a bag of shite

 

How the **** was that fight not stopped?

 

Yeah I really couldn’t believe that part not look pressure him and try for the knockout no pressure him and hopefully he will clinch you anuff to get disqualified.

Also the give me mike Tyson part going into the 12th had me laughing, no technical advice just be mike Tyson lol.

 

Badou Jack is the unluckiest mainstream boxer of the past 5 to 10 years. Hard scrabble journeymen might have it harder, but for a well known commodity like Jack his luck inside the squared circle has been cosmically dire.

I feel for the guy, and have been a big fan of his technical skills and body punching since the Periban farce 5+ years ago.

 

Some of the worst corner work I have seen in some time. I could maybe -- maybe -- understand if the fight were competitive. But Jack was showing nothing and was merely getting beaten up while pouring blood. It's not worth it and I don't think that kind of scene is good for boxing. People want violent competition, not a bloodletting.

 

How the hell did Jack think that hiring Lou Del Valle as his coach would be a good idea? The guy sounds like a punch drunk dope fiend.

 

I've seen some worse cuts but only in kickboxing and MMA where bone on bone contact is common. That's a ferocious gash that should have resulted in an immediate doctor's stoppage. Tony Weeks looked like he'd been spending time in an abattoir after the fight.

 

Weekes involved again a dubious decision , guessing Floyd has Weekes number from Wards camp. Any one else & it would've ightly been stopped, thought the ref was there to protect the fighters...that what weekes said when he stopped the Ward/ Kovalev low blow fight....How is this guy still a ref?
Also noticed that ugly slapper Byrd judging one of the previous fights ,again, they are still both on the payrolls...

 

As someone who comes on later in the fights it definitely would’ve affected him, but I still feel he would’ve lost, it’s a shame but at 35 he definitely would be on the downward slope. He’s had a decent career and an amazing bounce back. Been robbed his share of times too. So props to him

 

Since when did boxing fans become so squeamish?? Fights should be allowed go to their natural conclusion like this, and boxing fans should APPLAUD. I am GLAD they let the fight go and gave Jack every chance to win, as he should have.

Both the ref and his corner did EXACTLY the right thing. And so did the doctor. I salute them all for not being squeamish wusses as the modern boxing fan appears to have become. In my day, fights were decided in the ring, period!
