In what way is GGG the peoples champ. All we got from GGG as a person, are generic manufactured punchlines his team told him to say. To make matters worse, the same people that told him to say those things such as Abel, are now saying he lost the second fight against Canelo. I fight anyone from 154-168, I want to unify 160, both of these are contradicting statements. As was having his team mouth off the way Canelo fought the first fight and calling him a runner. Instead of putting more time in to do interviews with translators, standing up for himself, we are left with crappy punch lines, contradicting statements, and a resume that is no where near what it should have been legacy wise. As for Canelo you can criticize him all you want for his controversial wins, his Clanelo meat scandal, but in the end he fought guys like Lara, a fighter who has no fans and can really stink out the joint. He did this most likely against the wishes of his team/advisers. This is the difference, one guy stood up for what he wanted, taking fights that risk stinking the joint out, when called out for not fighting Mexican style, he steps in the ring as the smaller man and fights Mexican style. GGG on the other hand, is nothing more than a puppet with very little control of his career. GGG is a good boy.
Gennady Golovkin is without a doubt The People’s Champ. Bump both poll threads on who won each fight as an example of this for starters. Lol Then go look at what all the boxing writers and pundits say. 70-80% feel GGG won and should still have his belts. GGG= People’s Champ
Unpopular opinion, i know, but I don't think there can really be cries of robbery in the second. Yeah, it was close, but by the criteria used to score fights, Canelo won. Canelo landed more power punches, was the ring general, his defence was better (although a lot don't notice the subtleties of GGGs defence, Canelos was better for me) and his aggression was very effective. I think people brought feelings of the first into the second..
