Whyte’s next opponent

If Dillian Whyte can keep picking up these PPV pursues fighting the likes of Chisora, Parker etc he might as well carry on for a bit. Breazeale, Ortiz, Povetkin - all very winnable fights and would not be at a disadvantage going into any.

If he went in with AJ next took a conclusive KO loss what's his appeal really going to be? Can't see him going back to the types of fight I mentioned on PPV.

Definitely Whyte is playing the game and looks like he will take the AJ fight on very lucrative terms or just leave it for a while. He is fully aware the paying public and Sky want the big boys (in the UK) and if Fury and Wilder are out the equation im not sure AJ has that many viable options. AJ v Whyte would do massive PPV numbers and far better than AJ v Miller in America.

 

You've totally contradicted yourself there. PPV for a fight like this limits the audience to a few hundred thousand. On normal sky the viewing figures would be huge. Surely that's a lot better for the popularity of the sport?

 

Great point. Remember when Floyd Pacquaio did 4.6m buys in American or whatever it was? If that was on the American equivalent of ITV1 then surely they would have got about 50m watching them! What were they thinking?!?!

 

There are levels in boxing son. Whyte is decent but Povetkin and Ortiz are just better. If Chisora, who is in all fairness a poor mans Povetkin, could win so many rounds, Povetkin and Ortiz certainly can.

How is that trolling? It's completely stupid to pretend PPV doesn't exist or that it's going away. It's completely stupid to pretend that the likes of Joshua or Whyte are going to end up on free to air television. It's completely, completely, completely stupid to end up saying things like '2m people watched Hughie Fury on Channel 5, why can't Hearn see the damage he's doing when only 400,000 watch Dillian Whyte on PPV.'

To me it's no more trolling to call that nonsense out than it is dismiss someone who moans about Man Utd being on Sky more than Huddersfield.

 

Whyte needs to ditch the evil Hearn syndicate, and go with Warren. Maybe he can teach that young punk Daniel Dubois some respect! I'd certainly pay to see the kid being taught some manners!

 

Wouldn’t surprise me if Hearn sacrifices Whyte against Usyk later on this year for being greedy over his slice for the AJ rematch.

 

If Whyte wants his profile to fall off the edge of a cliff, earn a lot less money, and fundamentally annihilate the chances of a Joshua rematch, I think signing with Warren sounds like an absolutely great idea.

 

I think the best move for him would be brezeale to go the WBC route. Povetkin is a dangerous move, I don't think he needs any more risk when he's in line (or getting close ) for a mandatory shot at one of the belts. He's earned a shot now just needs to be patient and cherry pick a bit till the time comes. That's if he's being sensible.

On a boxing level I would like to see the Ortiz fight, it's 50/50 that one imo.

I know all about levels but you need to learn that styles make fights...Povetkin is past it son. Whyte would finish him.

I don’t suppose we will ever know the real story why the Joshua v Whyte rematch didn’t happen because both sides will only tell their version! However both Whyte and Hearns agree the fight was offered but the finances were not acceptable to Whyte and Hearns would not up it . Was it the reported £4 M ? That’s the question and if it was you have ask how much does Dillian feel he is worth ? I figure that’s probably around 20% and an 80/20 split doesn’t sound great but £4M is a decent wedge and if you really believe you can win the fight the speculate to accumulate principle is worth a punt. Dillian has done very well but he is risking a lot in fighting someone other than the top 3 guys.
