I can't believe he hasn't took the Joshua fight, if it is true he got offered 5m to fight for the belts it is scandalous that he hasn't took the fight. Let's be honest his first fight against Delboy could easily have been a loss, good win over Lucas Browne who was shot and not in any shape at all, very good win over Parker but got a lucky KD and Chisora second fight was a good performance but you would expect any top heavyweight to deal with Chisora. I watched his interview with Kugan and he is talking about how him,Wilder, Fury & AJ could all fight one another because they are the top 4 heavyweights in the game. Difference is they had all held world titles and none of them have been beat before. I think he is badly advised and deluded, which is a shame because I liked him before this carry on, he has been greedy.
Nope I’ve gained more respect for him. He’s no punk. He’s not going to accept a deal where he doesn’t get the lion’s share as champion in a rematch and why should he? He’s no one’s *****. Joshua comes out looking weak because he’s demonstrated that he feels he could lose both the first fight and a rematch against Whyte and that’s why he’s tried to stack both purse splits in his favour. When Bellew accepted the Haye fight he was getting shafted in the purse split but he knew that after winning he would turn the tables on the split in the rematch. And that’s how it was. Haye is no punk either, he knew Bellew warranted the greater split the second time round unlike Joshua whose unadulterated greed has killed fights against Wilder and Whyte.
Whyte explains it in great detail in his IFL interview with Hearn. First they offered 70/30, then 60/40 and eventually 50/50 for the rematch was offered but by that point Whyte was no longer interested and even Hearn admitted that the date had come to close at that point. How can anyone look objectively at that negotiation and honestly state that Joshua tried hard to make the fight with Whyte happen?
yeah just seen this on the other thread gonna give it a watch. 50/50 isnt the worst clearly not the best either, it would still be massively more than he would get for Wilder or Fury IMO. But if he thinks he is worth more then he is perfectly entitled to say no thanks. I think the fact that there are options out there for AJ to earn just as much if not more from other fighters. Whyte would defo have more room for negotiations if he hadnt already lost to AJ. Outside of Wilder and Fury i think Whyte is the next best fight for AJ so I am happy if its made.
Cut Throat Fade, cmon be serious here 50/50 for a rematch when Joshua is 10x bigger name and brings all the value and revenue is not a bad deal. Whyte is VOLUNTARY challenger lets not forget.
What did Whyte make for Parker and Chisora fights? £5m doesn’t seem that great an offer to me...if the fight were to generate £20m that’s only 25%. He’s due to be mandatory and will get 20% in that case with no rematch. If the fight generates £25m he’ll have matched that offer with no rematch clause...doesn’t seem that crazy to me...
It’s a voluntary defence. £5mil is a lot of money for a chance of holding all the belts. Regardless of a rematch or not.
Also by Eddie making Whyte a "PPV star" his expectations for the purses has gone up significantly. In reality, he should have got 500k for fight Del boy 2nd time
50/50 for the rematch ain't a bad offer IMO. That's serious money because the rematch would be bigger than their first world title fight. However, why offer him a flat fee? Joshua/Whyte 2 could be a huge hit with the casuals and 5 million may look dwarfed when the figures come in. That's Dillians worry I reckon. He knows he's a hit with the casuals himself now. Why not 70/30 first match and 50/50 rematch? I think that's quite fair and quite simple.
He’s not. Usyk will be ahead of him with the WBO, The WBA want a tournament for mandatory, the IBF have got Pulev as mandatory, the WBC have ****ed him around for nearly two years. He’s still at least 6 months/ possibly a year away from any mandatory position.
But Eddie Hearn has said the mandatory will be called later this year and Whyte will fight AJ even if it isn’t in April...
