Alex Arthur seems to regard himself as a world class fighter and was confident of beating Joan Guzman for the WBO World title.

It was no accident Arthur was knocked out by British / European level fighter Michael Gomez - when Arthur was a still undefeated hot prospect.

Arthur put it down to a blip.

But then far more recently he was nearly knocked out by British level fighter Steve Foster Jnr - Arthur put the knockdown to a lapse of concentration.

I put it down to the reality that he has a leaky defence and is no where near World Class fighter he thinks he is.

I think Guzman who have knocked him out in a routine defence.

Arthur was a good amateur fighter but as a pro he does not belong in the same breath as fellow scotsman like Ken Buchanan.

Arthur I think is a European level fighter.

Now I think unless I am mistaken he has been annoited WBO WOrld Champion - cos Guzman was stripped - and now he is another of Frank Warrens paper champions.

As soon as Arthur meets a proper world class fighter he is going to get knocked out convincingly.

    Agree?

    or

    Disagree?

agree, ricky burns gave him plenty to think about, carl johanson ktfo rick, and kev mitchell ktfo carl johanson. kev mitchell against alex arthur would be a great fight and one i can see happening but neither are top class fighters.

    ^^^^

Please, Arthur would KO Mitchell within 7 rounds. Easily.

Flint, no one is claiming Arthur is world class elite A, but you can never judge if he isnt a top fighter until you see him in with an elite guy. Some fighters excel when this happens. The boxer I seen against Gogoladze has the potential to pick up another strap at 130.

Alex Arthur dont belong in the same ring as Pac Man and if he ever did it would be a painful night for the Scot and he would be stopped in the first half of the fight

I'm sure Arthur will have a number of excuses for any future defeats when he steps up to world class

but the truth is he is not world class

I would pick Kevin Mitchell to stop Arthur in about 9 rounds.

it seems to me that Arthur regards himself as world class and thats where i think he is overrating himself

as for Kevin Mitchell I disagree with you because I think Mitchell has a much better chin and it would develop into a war and Mitchell is more a solid fighter for me and Arthur would come apart

but we should find out who is right or wrong soon as I heard they will be fighting each other in near future

the winner of that should fight Amir Khan

You are one of the only people I have heard of who picks Mitchell over Arthur. Try a poll in the British to prove my point. Fin.

I to dont believe that Arthur is world class. His career has been stalled due to bad management.

Arthur wont be champ for long.

Depends what you call world class, top 10? top 15? He's a fringe contender, EBU title level imo, I dont class him as a world champion.

yeah I dont regard him as even top 10 I mean if you nearly lose to Stephen Foster Jnr you hardly have claims to be one of a handful of the worlds top fighters

lucky he didnt fight Gomez or he would have been exposed for the fringe contender that he is.

dunky, the scottish boxing authority here on esb. doesnt him high regard.

he has decent boxing skills, not a big puncher, not incredibly fast, can do stamina,an ok chin.

but it all works together to make a half decent fighter. is he world class? NO but he is slightly above euro level.

I like Arthur. He has a nice boxing style and is good to watch. I think he is world class but only just. Aprevious post put him fringe world class, which is probably right. I'd like to see him to very well - he'll have my support.

Not true world class to be sure, but still good enough to defend his alphabet title a few times and make some decent money.

However, I have to agree with many here who say that he would come unstuck against the real elite in his division.

A solid B level fighter, nothing less, nothing more.
