Yarde, then Ramirez for a couple of easy paychecks. Then Beterbiev and the winner meets the Gvozdyk/Bivol winner for unification. That is if I was in his corner. As a fen - just skip the first two.

Yarde is the "best move", because that would be kind of a walkover probably. But definitely not the one I want to see.
Ramirez is also a very winnable one, and maybe smart from a "resume" standpoint (beating the 39-0 former SMW beltholder).
I expect him to lose to both Gvozdyk and Beterbiev by KO... Not a good move for Kova, but one of those I want to see. I don't understand so many people seeing fighting Beterbiev as a "good move".

No one likes Kovalev! I think Gvozdyk would destroy Kovalev. Beterbiev would be a great fight.

Kovalev vs Sugar Beterbiev is the fight to make and they both want it. Such a shame they robbed Kov of all 3 of his belts that he'd worked so hard for because then we could've seen a match up between them last year, both undefeated records intact, between 2 of the hardest punching and most destructive offensive forces in the entire sport, in a huge Russia vs Russia grudge match for all the marbles.

'Although Russia’s Artur Beterbiev didn’t want to see gym mate Eleider Alvarez lose his WBO world light-heavyweight title on Saturday (February 2), there was one upside to the Colombian’s loss and it was this: Beterbiev is now free to fight Sergey Kovalev, his countryman, with his mate’s old WBO belt on the line.

Beterbiev and Alvarez are both trained by Marc Ramsay, which previously put the kibosh on them ever getting together to unify the IBF and WBO belts. Now, though, with Alvarez temporarily out of the picture, the path has cleared for Beterbiev to fight, for a third time, a man with whom he has been linked for some time. [Beterbiev twice defeated Kovalev in the amateur ranks but Kovalev maintains he was robbed – a claim Beterbiev refutes.]

“Now he has a belt, and I also have a belt,” Beterbiev said to TVA Sports. “This is the right time to do a unification fight. Come on, let’s do it. Let’s do it, Kovalev. ”

Beterbiev is undefeated in 13 fights as a pro – all 13 achieved via knockout – and considered one of the most fearsome punchers on the planet. Kovalev, similarly, is known for his ability to end fights with one punch and, having avenged his defeat to Alvarez, the last man to beat him, seems rejuvenated in the twilight of his career.

Promoter Kathy Duva of Main Events, who handle Kovalev, 33-3-1 (28), is confident a Kovalev vs. Beterbiev unification will be made at some point in 2019.

“We have an agreement with Top Rank, and I am told that Beterbiev has signed a contract with them too, so it facilitates the organization of this unification fight,” she said. “This is a strong possibility and Sergey has wanted this fight for a long time.”

As have we all. Be warned, though: when it finally happens, it won’t be one for the squeamish.

Would definitely make Kova a good favourite over Yarde but Yarde isn't a bum.

Yarde would beat the brakes off Callum Johnson.

Yarde is a decent fighter, I think he beats Sullivan Barrerra too. Actually might favour Yarde over Jack too.

If it turned into a slugfest neither of their chins would hold up long enough for it to last long. Not saying their chins are below average but they're both elite frightening punchers something neither Gatti or Ward were. Probably more like McClellan vs Jackson I ending inside 5 rounds.

Personally i think Kovalev has the reach and footwork to dictate the range in the matchup and land his best stuff first but wouldn't anticipate it to be a back and forth slugfest.

:nut::qmeparto: What the ****! This may be one of your most delusional posts ever. Johnson cripples Yarde, and Barrera embarrasses him. Hell, I think Craig Richards and Hosea Burton give him absolute hell.

Being that Alvarez fought him twice, and put in the same effort of sporadic fighting, while getting outworked each time, I don't care to see a rubber match unless Alvarez goes out and earns it.

I hear you, but technically it would be the sporting gesture, per convention, to at least entertain the idea of it (were Storm even asking for it, which he isn't AFAIK) to settle the score. If the shoe were on the other foot and Kovalev had won the first time and lost the rematch you know damn well all the Krusher fans would be demanding it.

Yeah definitely. Alvarez's effort just doesn't sit well with me though. He got excused for it in the first fight, because he got the KO, but why fight in spurts waiting for a KO when it is clear that you could probably break Kovalev down with that body attack if you up your work rate a bit. At least Alvarez didn't make any excuses.

Huge pet peeve of mine when I see a guy not maximizing his potential.
