His resume isn't A+, but it's solid, you can't deny that. And I feel he left TR because he was on a collision course with TC, and although a good fighter I don't believe he can really outbox TC. I see Spence as a bigger Salido, albeit with a bit more skill, that's why Mikey chose him. He really feels he can outbox him. Thurman has size, speed and can box. Danny Garcia isn't a very hot commodity at the moment. Porter would grind him down. I thought he'd at least have an adjustment fight, possibly Guerrero, but I commend him on taking this challenge. Only my opinion.
you must really suck if you cant see how good mikey is, look around, you only got the know nothings agreeing with you, let that sink in. i can see someone with your self proclaimed experience thinking mikey is overated by some, but to think he went through all those divisions, belt holders and undefeated fighters without ever worrying about the fight being close, by pulling the wool over the eyes of those dumber than you, then i gotta question more than your boxing knowledge.
That's a stretch. Loma was robbed and Salido was coming on when the ref stopped the fight against Mikey. Mikey is an elite fighter and if he beats Spence it raises him to a whole new level. It's a huge challenge. The premise of this thread is a bit off. Mikey is a 4 to 1 underdog here. Meaning he's expected to have only a 20% chance of winning. That's not reflective of a great small fighter moving up to fight a good big fighter.
Mikey is an excellent fighter with a quality all around skill set. He belongs at the top and there is no doubt about it. He won't lose to Spence because of a lack of skills but rather because Spence has the same or better set of skills and is the bigger fighter. It will be a valent effort but that's about it.
Bunch of weight divisions, bunch of top 10 opponents. How did he become so highly rated? The right and deserving way.
Maybe because he did it well after they beat Broner down? Broner's standing going into each fight plays a role with the credit his opponent deserves for beating him. You can't compare what Pac did to Broner with what Maidana did to Broner. Not really in the same ballpark.
