Out of interest what rounds would you give to Wilder?

Fury landed on average 1 more punch per round than Wilder. Check the figures.

Wilder had 2 knock downs.

A draw isn't outrageous, get over it.

 

The fight was a masterclass in hit and not be hit, and Wilder apart from the two knockdowns landed nothing.

I've not seen anyone outside of this forum score the fight for Wilder. Even Lou Dibella walked up to Fury and told him he had won before the scores were announced.

115-111 was farcical, even the draw was bad.

 

I am just telling you the facts. On average Fury landed 6 shots per round, Wilder landed 5.

 

Don't go bringing stats into this mate. The fact that the vast majority of Fury's supposed masterclass counters for the first half of the fight hit air, gloves or forearms isn't required in this thread. He had more success in the last quarter but got knocked down.

I can see an argument for a narrow Fury win tbf, even taking into account the knockdowns, but some sort of ten round shutout, nah you have to actually hit people for that not just avoid telegraphed right hands. But then again I'm not blinded by showboating or commentators.

 

Only problem is, Fury didn't do that much hitting. I will agree in the not being hit though, he's remarkably evasive for such a big ungainly looking lump.

 

He got the draw which says it all really, anybody watching knew TF had done enough, even with the knockdowns.

There would have been a riot had the decision gone completely against him.

But hey come on lets be positive here fellas, before the fight Fury was already written off by almost everybody including Wilders alter egos...
He has had two meaningless comeback fights, he has lost too much weight too soon, he has abused his body, he is cashing out, the list is endless.

Well considering he was and has done all them things, he has made a lot of people eat their own words.

To go through all that and take the WBC heavyweight champion of the world 40-0-39kos and get a split decision draw is to be admired to be honest.

And lastly, Colin Harts shameful prediction in his article was just typical ignorant behavior of someone who should know better.

Well done Tyson Fury and congratulations on keeping it real and proving what a great fighter you are.

 

Hit and not get hit masterclass? Fury only hit his opponent about once a round more Fury himself was hit, and to top it off he was dropped twice.

Masterclass of hit and not get hit? Calzaghe Lacy. Outland your opponent by more than 200 shots and drop them. Get dropped twice and barely land much of note = leaving yourself at major risk. I said on here before the fight that Tyson would do better than many thought he would but he would lose out if he ended up trying to nick rounds through defensive work whilst landing barely any punches.

I am not at all an expert in boxing, I only recently started following the sport. I am not even sure of the boxing rules (nor I think there is a consensus on it).

But I rewatched Fury vs Wilder full and scored, with one simple rule: Whoever hits the face/head cleanly (be it a jab or punch, be it a weak strike or a strong strike) more wins the fight. I don't count body shots (I think this an overrated element) or shots that are blocked. Neither do I consider any ring generalship (it doesnt matter you are the aggressor or the counterpuncher) nor efficiency (conversion rate). Just whoever lands more on the face wins.

Going by this, I thought Wilder won by 6 rounds to 5 (1 being draw). It was a close call. I didnt think it was a robbery.

 

Seen much worse cards than Fury v Wilder although I had Wilder up by one in a very close fight which could have gone either way.

Check out Burns v Beltran or Tyson Fury v John McDermott 1 for the worst cards ever produced anywhere in the world.

 

Can't talk about being the worst, but whoever scored 118–110 to Canelo in Canelo vs GGG 1 is mindboggling to me.

 

I doubt there could be a worse decision than Casamayor beating Santa Cruz. The latter won every single round ffs.

 

It’s a great sport and I hope you stick with enjoying it. You need to acknowledge the different methods of scoring including shots to the body, ring generalship, effective aggression and defence to appreciate the elite subtleties that the likes of Loma, Canelo, GGG etc do.
