GGG is said to have power between world and elite class. Thats all, noones saying hes hagler.

The vast majority of GGG die hard, HBO, Loeffler, and GGG himself all believed he had ridiculous out of this world power.

HBO told us time and time again that he was the Mike Tyson of the MWs.

Loeffler bragged how he KD HWs.

GGGoons ate it up and claimed he would KO anyone between 154-175.

GGG is now in a self imposed exile after not being able to KO Canelo and Jacobs.

 

I can see the argument being made about what seems like a lack of true punching power by GGG. But the argument fails to take into consideration all factors on how to determine true punching power. GGG is a true power puncher but he lacks speeds and when combined with an elite level opponent with great defense and counter punching skills(canelo has both, Jacobs is a counter puncher that uses athleticism and foot movement as his defense) it can negate the ability and number of opportunities for a boxer like GGG to land his punches with full power and effect. When he was able to land effectively, he hurt both Jacobs and Canelo, Jacobs throughout the fight and Canelo in rounds 10 and 11 of the rematch. Unfortunately, GGG could not effectively follow up because of lack of natural speed and age catching up to him. The GGG of 2014/2015 defeats Canelo convincingly. But thats a moot point now and the truth is that the GGG vs Canelo series should be at minimum 1-1(GGG W in 1st fight UD, Camelo W in 2nd SD, MD)

Now just for reference, Canelo is also seen as a heavy hitter. His fans are constantly predicting KOs/TKOs of elite opponents, but he has yet to produce. His KOs are spectacular but the opponents are far from the same. Smaller, older, lesser or way past their prime are shared commonalities of Canelo's KOed opponents, also from lower weight classes with quite a weight disparity in Canelo's favor. When he did fight elite opponents that were far removed from their primes/peaks, he failed to KO them or get close to a KO.

Fact is 1 fighter has a mega promotion, even his fights with a very low risk opponent were made into huge money promotions. Dictates most of the fight terms and conditions, is given favorable status and exemptions by the governing bodies and sanctioning organizations, also has failed PED tests and receive minimal punishment and overall usually receives the benefit of the doubt. Oh and he is a bitchy diva that gets butthurt by Instagram post not favorable to his image.

The other fighter is just that a fighter who fought to fight and earned his way up by way of a spectacular amateur career and hard fought pro career with major promotion only arriving at the tail end of his career. His status was built through fan appreciation and word of mouth in boxing circles. To top it off his hard earned victory in the 1st fight between the 2 fighters was stolen from him by abhorrent and almost crimimal corrupt judging.
