Reagan was ripped of pretty bad, good match up for Aussie boxing and we need more fights like this ! Instead of over the hill match ups like Mundine...but the best guy lost, I like Reagan’s style he has a good future, poor kid just got robbed hope he bounces back well

 

* Melb judges Brett Manson , Lynne Kennedy and Martin O ' Malley have some questions to answer for after the Reagan debacle. Any other state the President would have one. After the fight i no doubt there is no chance of Tim Tszyu fighting Zerafa in Melb or even Joe Camilleri.
* Joe Camilleri the new Aust 154 lb Champ after dominating Billy Limov via tko .
* The Scorpion returns March 24. Bika fights American Lionell Thompson on the Peterson vs Lipinets undercard. Bika is currently training in West Florida.
* A feasibility study into Brisbane bidding for the 2032 Olympic's was done and there were some interesting recommendations .The boxing would be held at Logan with a stadium to be built. Off hand the only fighter i can think of coming from Logan is Alex Leapai.

* Jeff Horn has started his strength and training program under fitness coach Dundee Kim as steels himself for a battle with the lanky Texan Rob Bryant WBA MW Champ.
* Liam Paro is on the road to recovery and is on holidays in Bali. Lets hope his broken hands heal properly as Alfie Di Carlo hopes to have Paro fighting for the WBO World Title before the yr ends.
* Central Coast Jai Opetia has spent some time on the northern beaches sparring at Manly Beach Boxing as he ups his training with his big fight Belgium only a month away.
* This Fri at Technology Park Jeff Fenech prodigy Brock Jarvis fights with also the vacant Aust SMW Title up for grabs with Joshua Jenkins vs Blake Travers.
* Sydney Giants ruckman Shane Mumford who had two boxing fights last yr has expressed interest in fighting the Sharks Paul Gallen at the end of AFL season.

 

* Fox boxing schedule for March .
WBC 147 lb Champ Shawn Porter vs Cuban Yordenis Ugas from midday March 10.
IBF 130 lb Champ Tevin Farmer vs Jono Carroll + Katie Taylor vs Rose Volante from 1pm March 16. Reminder this is Sat Aust time.
IBF 147 lb Champ Errol Spence vs Mikey Garica. This will be PPV. March 17.
* Bilal Akkawy according to Fox is fighting in May on Canelo vs Jacobs undercard and is expected to have a warm up fight in Mexico on March 9. Opponents for both fights still TBA.
* Reagan Dessalix is interested in a rematch with Caparello. Unlikely to be in QLD but the President felt he won the fight and it will have to be on his terms.
* Aust Boxing Hall of Fame inductees March 2.
Modern Lovermore Ndou and the Bulli Blaster Shannon Taylor.

I agree with all of this, especially the comments on Horn's management/promoter and trainer, his trainer is an idiot. However I am not as concerned on Horn's "dirty tactics"... fighters fight and push limits, thats what a referee is for, its not a great style to watch but I wont begrudge him if he has to use that style to win the opponents need to handle that as Crawford did very well.
Horn is becoming more and more insignificant in the boxing world.

A glance at boxers will show the judges from the Soliman debacle have obviously been reformed in record time and have continued on there merry way working shows - and still getting it wrong.

As you can see from the link nothing new here - there are boxing judges in Vic that are completely unaccountable for their performances. The Combat Sports Board cleaned up the MMA / Kickboxing scene years ago with great success however boxing runs its own show admin wise.

* A win on Fri night means Brock Jarvis will enter the top 20 IBF rankings.

* The son of Nader Hamadan will have his final am fight on the same Fri night card before turning pro.

* Dragon Fire Promotions have been saying they have Fox Sports getting behind Boxing Mania 5 Sat March 30. This is a terrific triple header.
Jason Maloney vs Chris Paulino
Billel Dib vs Rey Juntilla
Kerry Foley vs Michael Van Nimwegen
* Jack Brubaker is saying his next fight is huge and his team has big yr mapped out for him. Brubaker has talent and like Brock Jarvis and Tim Tszyu he had a limited AM career and wasn't a CMW or Olympic Games rep. The main worry vulnerability to cuts.
* Two Aust based Irish fighters have title fights coming up.
WBO 154 lb Champ Jamie Muninga vs Dennis Hogan April 13
IBF 122 lb Champ TJ Doherty vs WBA 122 lb Champ Daniel Roman April 26

A few thoughts:

- Nice to see Foxtel supporting local promotions but I wish they would insist on featuring a minimum number of top 20 Australian or Australian-based guys. That sends a message to every promoter in the country about the standard a promotion needs to be at in order to be televised. They will also need to exercise some quality control about who the opponents for those fighters are. You don't want to insist on three top 20 guys being on the promotion & then have all those guys win in the first. Wrt to the Dragon Fire promotion, I see one top 10 guy, Jason Moloney.

- Cameron Hammond is the opponent I'd like to see for Jack Brubaker. Really not sure who would win. Hammond looks to have a higher ceiling when he performs at his best while Brubaker is more consistent. I think the outcome would depend on where the fight is fought. In Qld, Hammond. In NSW, Brubaker.

- If Dennis Hogan beats Mexican Mungo & TJ Doheny unifies against Roman, I think they should be given Australian citizenship. If either loses, Ireland can keep them. I hope we get to see both fights, btw. And preferably live. Foxtel have given us nothing in so far as TJ Doheny is concerned while Hogan's fight with Mexican Mungo is going to be fun while it lasts.

- The year is shaping up nicely - Andrew Moloney & Jai Opetaia on 22 March, then the two Irish-Australians in April. Maybe Jeff Horn v Rob Brant in May.
