I get the feeling this will be announced soon. What are everyone's thoughts? I understand we're all dissapointed the Wilder fight isn't happening next but lets divert away from that subject because there's enough debate on it in several other threads. As a standalone fight, what do you make of Fury/Parker? Is Parker a worthy opponent? Does Fury get much credit for beating him? How do you see it playing out? I personally think it's an okay fight that Fury wins handily. I think Fury TKO's Whyte or Ortiz but I'm not so sure about Parker, who is young and skillful enough to go 12 rounds and avoid serious punishment. We'll get the usual few clowns who'll say Fury will throw five jabs a round or whatever but they conveniently forget Fury only boxes that cautiously when fighting elite punchers. There's nothing wrong with his output against lesser punchers like Chisora and Hammer, both of whom he stopped. Although Parker is better than both which is why I think he'll see the final bell. Parker is Joshua's third best win. If Fury beats him, he'll have Joshua's best and third best wins on his record, along with a controversial draw with Wilder. Surely there'll be no argument who has the better resume after that?
I'm still gutted it's not Wilder again, but with that aside it's a good fight for all sides. Parker gets a good pay day, a chance to beat a huge name, and it's not like Chisora has masses of options so that fight will always be there regardless of the result. Fury needs a decent win in the interim and someone of some type of threat (no matter how small that threat may be) to keep him from imploding. Plus he's getting a boat load of money for it. I don't mind it as a fight, but think it's a comfortable points win for Fury. Foregone conclusion for me and one of those fights that I'll watch on YouTube on the Sunday.
Think it's a bloody good fight...I'm not expecting anything as tough. Fury should win but see it going 12 and Parker getting his share of rounds.
Parker is way to passive. Giving up huge height and reach advantages. Joshua was very cautious with Parker as he didn't want to get counterd by a guy with quicker hands and faster feet but I can see Fury just jabbing on him leaning on him when he needs to a winning a very boring decision. It's a meh fight. Parker is a bit like a heavyweight Algeri if you can stand the comparison. Grabbed a belt did ok until he met the elite and now you see while they might be good boxers they are not true world class.
Expecting a complete shut out here. Parker isn't naturally aggressive and his only chance is to put relentless pressure on Fury, he'll try for the first 2 or 3 rounds realize he can't get past Tyson's height and reach and then stay out of trouble for the remainder, preserve himself for future fights like he did against AJ.
Tyson is 10 x better than Hughie and Hughie won that Parker fight for me so I expect this to be a 12 round snooze fest. It’s a bit meh.
Tyson should win but I think he'd be better served in with someone who'd go on the attack. A tedious twelve rounds isn't what anyone wants.
I see Parker winning on points in a ugly contest similar to Hughie, but more open(how can it not be?). Although Tyson is more open than Hughie so we may see Parker droppping Fury once or twice. I still don't think this fight would happen, too risky of fight for Tyson, Arum wont allow it. I am expecting Rivas or Jennings level at best.
Jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, let opponent swing and miss, jab, jab, jab, showboat a little, jab, jab, jab X12
I think you may have forgotten that Tyson Fury is not anywhere near the same size as Hughie is. Tyson is a mountain in comparison. Hughie may fight a similar style, but he doesn't have the thing he so desperately needs: height and reach. That's where Tyson differs. Hughie was pounded on the ropes quite a few times because of Parker's pressure game. He struggled to deal with Parker's superior physical strength. But Parker's strength is average in comparison to Tyson's insane physical attributes. He can deal with Parker when he's stuck on the ropes, unlike Hughie. The one big problem that Hughie had was that he couldn't quite reach Parker with punches. Had he been a few inches longer on those arms, he'd have landed a lot more frequently. Tyson has the reach Hughie needed and will land so much more.
