Is Mayweather the Best or does he just say so. I've always appreciated his style and defence but is he best, does his résumé match up to Charles, Robinson, Greb, Ali or Langford. Could he beat any of the older Welterweight greats or is his H2H prowess overrated.

I've added a poll to determine where he's placed in others eyes

No it doesn't match up with those named, and no he wasn't as good as though named. He was however, the GOAT at carefully picking fights at the right time. He's also may be the GOAT at promotion and certainly self promotion. However, he's not close to the GOAT as a fighter or going by resume

    Welcome to the forum....

But to answer your question no!

I do think 10-20 could be argued. I try not to rate fighters till they have retired for 5 years where we can better evaluate them and their era. You could probably make a case for 7-10 but I think that is doubtful or it will be the outlier rather than the norm. I think he will cement himself in top the top 25 but likely outside of the top 10

Resume wise, not a chance IMO.

    Still a legit ATG though

I think he's in the mix with the best ever Lightweights. I think the top teir Welterweights would prove too much though.

I'm not sure we will ever see guys like Ray Robinson and Henry Armstrong again. Those two to me are 1a and 1b for the GOAT. They both moved up and down in weight and fought everyone. Floyd is a great figher no doubt but he is not on the level of those two as far as true accomplishments.

Out of interest which atg lightweight do you pick him over, I have him dropping a decision to Benny Leonard, a KO loss to Duran but winning a comfortable decision over Joe Gans
