Yep, his promotional deal with Gary Shaw Productions is over just like Nonito Donaire's... it's all over the internet scene and his manager confirmed it to Rafael as well... So it seems the October HBO BAD tripleheader has just lost a name... whether HBO is still interested in staging the show with Gamboa and Angulo a good Q.
Shaw has a habit of sitting on some guys, I think Kirkland would've been one of them. Along with Joe Greene, I think this guys going to be huge at 154. But he should be more active than what Shaw's got him. Anne Wolfe has him ready for some meaningful fights and Shaw would've kept him in the shadows behind the other prospects. Top Rank could use a decent JMW?
I don't know or care to know much about the politics of the sport, but it's a little silly that Kirkland can't still fight anyway...at the end of the day, HBO (and not the promoters) are the bosses when it comes to who gets to be part of their programming, right? Why can't they work out some compromise where they let Kirkland fight on the card independent of Shaw and tell Gary to just let it slide because, well, they're HBO and it's their god damn show? James is good tv...no, GREAT tv...and they must know that.
I wouldn't say that... his last opponent was more than decent and Shaw was already planning an important fight for the October HBO BAD card...

Kirkland might have fired Shaw, but there is possibly a unfinished contract and HBO can not interfere. I mean, if this is the case. Look what was going on with Tua.
