He should not come back now at 43. You could tell he was in decline through the fights soon after he fought Haye.
At least from the sounds of it if he does come back he will take a few warm up fights before Joshua. At least he will be active this time round, but he was struggling badly to land and time shots for a few years before he fought Joshua, it will only of got a lot worse now. Great technique and experience can only take you so far in this sport, youth really does need to be on your side.
If he did become champion again it would be among the greatest achievement, or most likely greatest achievement in heavyweight boxing, I guess that is really what is tempting him.
Good luck, but I think the right decision is to call it a day.

 

For me I think there’s an element of truth to this but the $40m quoted would be if he went through with the Joshua rematch. Matchroom Germany is launching if they gave him $10m a fight for two tune ups against semi decent names DAZN would double their money on subscribers it would generate. Plus they get a msssive name to launch the platform which gives them entry to buying other rights in the market such as football. The guys behind DAZN know they have buy into markets to generate a worldwide subscriber base. Netflix has 139m subscribers the beauty of DAZNs model is that it’s sport which has no bounds of markets you can enter and sell to. Boxing will be a very small part of their long term model.

I’d much rather see him come back than not, and as boxing fans it’s of course a no brainer - unless I’m missing something, we have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain by his potential return, so what’s the problem?

 

The version that fought Joshua would be no worse than 3rd. That was 2 years ago though.

 

Yep, but it's hard to imagine a 43 year old winning a title. Only if some bum KOes any of the champs by a lucky punch and Wlad beats him.

My thoughts exactly. Would kind of be fun to watch and maybe help the era which looks like it is stalling out a bit now. But, almostacertainly bad for Wlad. Unless he pulls out a near miracle win over one of the Big 3, he's only going to tarnish his legacy and could very well lose to the likes of Ortiz or Whyte.

Ultimately, I hope he doesn't come back. The AJ Wlad fight was too great an event not to go out on.

Look at how he dropped Joshua with one shot and was winning many rounds- that was not the performance of a shot fighter

I would pick Wlads over Wilder, easily—— and I would love to see him give Joshua and fury a rematch

 

Is Dazn considering leaving boxing? If so that would suck. There would be only 2 tv channels to show fights and we would not get to see boxers fight that often

 

I think he can come back. Right now I'd put him at number 3 behind AJ and Fury however I think he would go 50:50 at beating them also. It shows how poor the depth is that someone like Whyte is ranked #4. WK would stop him easily

 

It wouldn't surprise me at all if he came back (and got some wins).
