Let's face it, Fury is still pretty much an unknown in the US. The Wilder fight did okay for a PPV, but we're talking 325k buys. That's a tiny number of people. I don't see what appeal he has to the American public. He's not a knockout artists or an exciting fighter - he's a fat bald bloke from Manchester. His biggest selling point is his name. As for Dillian Whyte, I don't think he will sign with Arum - I think that's smoke and mirrors to get a better deal from Eddie. Fury v Whyte in the States makes no sense.
Why can’t people seem to see things from after the fight instead of before it? Not the bit beforehand were they battled hard to sell the fight but after it when the clips/memes etc went viral and everyone was talking about it.
Part of my thinks he got his ESPN deal on the back of his personality and them thinking Wilder was your typical Tyson Fury fight. Some poor researcher at ESPN is in for the sack when it turns out he didn’t watch Fury’s back catalogue zzzzzz
Memes come and go. They have a shelf life of about a week if you're lucky. This is why it would have been better to go straight into the Wilder rematch. At least it had some momentum. Now all that will be lost because greedy Bob wants to milk Fury before he risks him taking on Wilder again.
Memes and clips are one thing but they don't really signify popularity as much as tickets and PPV's. By every metric in his ten years as a pro Fury hasn't shown himself to be that popular. Every time this discussion crops up it's always a case of 'next time.' Completely agree with the guy who wonders what exactly it is about a light hitting fat guy from Manchester that will supposedly have the Americans starstruck.
Yeah yeah yeah so you keep saying. Like I keep saying, judge his popularity on his next fight. Until then, you’re just a very bitter poster on a boxing forum who takes every single opportunity he can to slag Fury off. We get it, you can’t stand him.
Exactly, Arum doesn't have any quality opposition to throw in for Fury or Whyte to build their profile. So he's gonna have to put them on the same card against bums to marinate the fight 1 or 2 times. Then have them trash talk for weeks and load up the undercard with Mexicans for Latino viewers when they actually face each other.
If his next fight doesn't do well you'll just come back with 'I know loads of people on Facebook who are talking about Fury all the time.' It's nothing to do with what I think of him personally. It's that he's been a pro for a decade, never been remotely that popular, and you're sticking to 'judge him next time' just as you were before the Wilder fight bombed. I don't get why Tyson not being popular annoys you so much.
AJ can be "frozen out/ducked" for years and still pocket more than the rest of the top ten combined. Joke's on them for failing to recognise that Joshua's popularity isn't magic, it's based on staying busy, in shape and going for the KO in challenging fights. The top HWs are being blinded by jealousy imo, making irrelevant moves whilst trying to divert attention from the fact that AJ is deservedly top-dog. If you avoid fighting AJ, you will never achieve real relevance at HW and it's just that simple.
Not on Facebook. The first paragraph is irrelevant and not something I would do. You’re incredibly presumptious and cynical with it. It’s you who is obsessed with popularity. I’ve still not seen you break down a fight or highlight a fighter’s attributes and flaws. You like quoting punch stats and how Fury apparently thinks he can win fights by sticking his tongue out and puts his hands behind his back but that’s about it. The rest is defending Hearn, telling us where AJ is on the Forbes list etc. I’d love to hear who your thoughts on who wins between Fury, Wilder, AJ and Whyte and why, genuinely, without bringing up bank balances.
Based on Furys new deal and the additional revenue streams he will earn more than AJ from upcoming fights.
