This thread clearly shows double standards for certain fighters.

Canelo got slammed in this very forum for fighting Rocky Fielding, a world champion at 168. Let's see if Usyks first fight at heavyweight is against someone of a similar level, and if Usyk will receive the same criticism.

As if that guy thinks Wilder would be up for fighting Usyk when he's all risk for relatively little financial reward.

You know certain posters are put of their mind when a guy is FOTY coming off a truly remarkable year in which he dominated a good division and is already been accused of being a ducker because he wants to acclimatise to fightimg at the division up.

The only double standard here is your hard on against euro fighters. Maybe if Mexicans stopped being midgets you'd have someone to follow in the heavier divisions and you would understand. Fighting guys a couple pounds heavier is not the same as stepping up into a division with unlimitted weight. Canelo was rehydrating to 170 when he was at 154. him stepping up to 168 is just fighting at his walk around weight which most cruiserweights and all heavyweights do. Canelo been a weight bully most of his career and when he finally fought at his walk around weight he fought a bum, come back to me when he actually cleans out 168 like usyk cleaned out 200, beating the best in their own back yard one after the other no robberies no gifts. Then you can make a case for double standards.

Wouldn’t see any problem with it myself. Warm up fights can take place and be over very quickly if that’s the way they wanna go. If he drags them out over a long time then I’d be worried. Let’s see what happens...

Usyk was rehydrating to 220lbs in the ring at cruiser, your argument is invalid!

Yeah hopefully he can get someone of Charr's caliber for his first fight, since he is champion just like Fielding.

Actually the higher up the divisions you go the less difference weight discrepancy between fighters matters, it’s all about percentages. This is why you routinely have guys beating opponents with 30lbs+ on them, unheard of in the lower weights. Usyk is a huge cruiser anyway, his size won’t be an issue at HW. It’s sensible to take a tune up or two to adjust to the weight however.

I think he is, easily..Only size stops him as he's arguably prime more complete than all of them

I'll warm you up mate, with some nice toasted buns.

And yeah give Usyk 1 or 2 warm up fights, against decent opposition.

I would suggest LUcas Browne as a initial, the Dillian Whyte as warmup.

Bit of difference from stepping up from MW to SMW to CW to HW. HW theres no weight restriction, could be fighting somone 6 inches taller and 60lbs heavier.
