Don't think that's an unpopular opinion, thought it was common knowledge that Collins fought Benn and Eubank when they were faded, Benn had just lost to Malinga and had been damaged by the war with McClellan and all the other tough fights he had been in. Eubank was never the same fighter after Watson fights and even then he arguably won the first fight with Collins.
Those were probably not even my most unpopular opinions. I have maybe half a dozen more than might alienate everyone.
Last time I scored Leonard-Duran 1 143-142...for Leonard. Gave SRL 1, 5, 6, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15 for those looking for a RBR scorecard.
I quite like the idea of Mayweather fighting like Robinson or Charles. He was a very accurate puncher and with good hand speed and Excellent timing. However his lack of power could be a problem
There are a ton of swing rounds, so I'm not gonna claim robbery...But honestly, in the rounds I gave him, Leonard did enough in my opinion to take those particular frames.
We could go over those rounds, and discuss them in more depth, but I'm not sure where we'd get with that. I have no issue with somebody saying it was a competitive fight, because it was just that, but it was more competitive than it was close. Duran dominated the rounds he won, and clearly so, SRL squeaked by the rounds you likely gave him. That makes a huge difference when looking at the fight as a whole. Ask yourself, would you have rather been SRL after that fight or Duran. Sometimes that can give a decent indication about who was landing the more telling blows and being more dominant in the ring. To me that was unquestionably Duran.
Ultimately, we'd get to a standoff. For the record, I thought Duran won most of his rounds more clearly (2-4 and 9, and I feel pretty confident giving him 12). But I also feel confident giving Leonard round 1, 6 and 13-15. That leaves five rounds up for grabs, and yeah...I think you can easily give SRL three of those that remain. Sometimes a fighter can win the narrative, but lose the rounds....and this was one of those times, imo.
