I was very happy for Berto winning the title and he sounds so down to earth, but where the hell they dig up this Rodriguez. Of course he is not going to be rushed. He beat this guy, but both of them had no business fighting for a world title. Berto beat who to be the #1 contender? He is a HBO fighter and he is going to get hurt if he gets in the ring with either Zab, Cotto, Margarito, and even Cintron. I forgot what Collazo looks like. He hasn't had a good fight since Hatton. So maybe Berto can beat him. He sure missed alot of punches. That right hand forward and then immediate right hand upper backing up was pathetic for Rodriguez to get dropped. It did look sweat, but this won't work with an elite fighter. Berto did what he was suppose to do and that was win. He is not ready for the elite and having the oldest and most respected belt by fighting what was his name?

I prefer he should fight Cintron next since he's the so called champion.

I just dont get it with some of you guys on here???

How is Berto not impressive to you? He has fought some good comp (Trabant, Rodriquez, Estrada), has DOMINATED everyone he has fought, has shown UNREAL athleticism and very, VERY good boxing skills, he seems like a stand up guy outside of the ring and also sounds like he WANTS to fight the best.

What more do you want??? I mean, does he need to KO everyone on the first punch??? The kid is DAMN GOOD...and getting better with EACH FIGHT! I just dont know what to say???

I've been telling people on ESB since the first time I seen him on the undercard of JT that he is legit. But he will step up and fight some great fighters. But he is very well spoken which is always a plus in boxing and very Marketable.

to date its still hard to gage were this guy is at. Plenty of boxers at 147 to measure the skill against and an opponent of the caliber of Collazo or Quintana would give us a clue. Right now I just dont know if this guy is ready for the elite level. He is ready to fight someone of note lets see what happens.

Your right he is impressive, but is he ready for the elite. He defense was shaky. Some of his best combos hit air. I would have given him the benefit that he was nervous, but by round four he was showboating and hitting air. Rodriguez caught Berto hear and there, but what would happen if Cintron was to hit him with a power shot?

If Cintron lands a nice one on Berto his glass chin will shatter. I'd like to see this match made to find out whether Berto is mere hype and also if Cintron is better than the flak he received for losing twice to Margo.

doesn't need to be rushed?...he has a ****ing belt now. He better start fighting better opposition. Unless he gets infected by the WBC disease Floyd left on it. Fight the weakest of the best.

Correct. Fight the lower level of the elite. Again, Collazo hasn't been seen in a while. I know he last fought on a undercard sometime ago with ?. Collazo does not hit hard and is a decent boxer. If Berto beats Collazo, this could propel him to fight some other top ten guys. It does not have to be the same old fighters we keep mentioning.

Hitting air???? He landed over 50 percent of his total punches and over 60 percent of his power shots, those are extremely impressive connect percentages

Agreed...he showed FANTASTIC accuracy tonight. No idea how you can say hitting air when a fighter lands 63% of his power shots...?

Interesting choices:) I would honestly rate Collazo above Quintana....I don't think Berto is technically sound enough to beat either but I give him a better chance against Quintana

I think a fight with Cintron or QUintana makes a lot of sense, as those two still have their names out there. I also think Berto beats both them.

Collazo's speed might give Berto some trouble, but I think he'd more than likely get the job done.

Judah vs. Clottey winner is probably too big of a step but that's what I really want to see.

The first I would love him to fight first. Then a Clottey Fight would be a step up to the top 5 of the Division. Then it will be the fights that we would pay to see by fall 09 or 2010

If u look at Berto's last 3 fights including this one, excluding their fights with him they combine for only 1 stoppage loss... So I guess you can say, he's been fighting fairly durable guys who were suppose to not only give him rounds but maybe take him into deeper waters... I think Estrada went 10rounds before being stopped...

Collazo seems like a good fight for him... And he is the next in line on the WBC ranking list... Baldomir is also there.... If Baldo can make 147 still i wouldnt mind them 2 gettin it on...

Baldomir still has enough of a name, and has that crowd pleasing style, and a very huge head to hit... A good chin and a tough guy... Would be a good fight for Berto...

Jackson Bonsu is ranked #4 in the WBC (minus 2 cause Berto is champ and Mikki lost...) and ranked in Ring Magazine.. Now I only seen 2 fights of his fights and the thing that stood out was wow this guy can punch...
