Were there any boxers that would be able to beat Tyson mid-range?

Well that makes things enormously different!!!!!! Many were over debutantes and guys with losing records. Imagine if Lewis fought these guys.

I can't believe i had to go on and on before you let go of the charade Dempsey ko'd 19 top contenders in one round. I also can't believe you put up an ATG chin and fighter as reasons Lewis' power is extremely overrated.

Weight has plenty to do with chin. How long do you think lightweights would last with Tyson? We saw what he did to ex light heavyweights.

The media sensationalism from Dempsey's day lives on.

I love Dempsey. He's one of my favourite fighters. He was a great fighter and technician (as evidence by championship fighting book).

However he really became over rated as a boxing myth, whilst men like Harry Greb did things Dempsey fans dream of. Dempsey had 19 1st round Kos? Greb went 45 - 0 in one year against multiple hall of famers who stand up to this day! Where's his media myth?

Sorry for the rant, but some evaluations of Dempsey are ridiculous.

    Serious question.

    Have you ever actually boxed?

Weight has a lot to do with chin and endurance. I sent a lightweight across the ring with a jab in sparring and realized i had to hold back. I thought this was common sense?

Ugh, im not debating against multiple people

    For the record, yes

I honestly have doubt that Tyson would even be able to knock out Joe Grim (i would pick him to but i wouldnt be surprised if he didnt). Then again i think he'd knock out Ty Fields quickly

Thats because weight adds poise, you probably didnt even hurt him. Either that or he's a chinny son of a *****

Note: diminishing returns also affects this

I'm working on a theory of why weight could add to chin but its a working theory, so far i see no proof. Debate over, im through

He couldn't really fight on the inside imo, could get tied up too..But mid range and a little closer and he owns that space against everyone when he was right

No he couldn't. Its physically impossible for any 13 stone man to stand up to prime Tyson

Joe Grim is a bad example. He took so much punishment he went mentally insane. Sounds worse than a KO. He was also eventually KOd anyway.

So a lightweights chinny because he was rattled by a larger man, probably with 16 oz? And this lightweight ain't gonna be Roberto Duran, just a boxer training at a gym. How's he supposed to take bigger man's power? It doesn't mean he's chinny either. Chin relates to weight class.

From what you're saying, I very much doubt you have actual bout experience. And sparring ain't the same.

Tyson would have made short work of any fighter below 175, it wasn`t just his power it was his ability to land power shots often.

Tyson held the world record for 1st round KO`s by the early 90`s, by that stage he had 21 1st round KO`s.

It would be career suicide, a fast as **** monster puncher would seriously hurt a fighter that light

Sorry, that was meant to be an either/or question. Or are you saying "both"?

On top of that, he did 'put a dent in Mercer' he had him reading up a few times and on the defence. As he did Holyfeild who wasn't as old as most people make out. Only 3 years difference

That résumé isnt as good as Tua's, and doesn't hold a candle to Lewis'

Willard is very overrated as a way to improve Dempsey standing. And you've already ruled out the 'big men' argument. What live contender did Willard beat outside of the ancient Johnson who claimed to take a dive
