This is obviously a cash out fight for Mikey. He didn’t want to lose to Linares and Lomachenko for less money. Ruin your career with a career high pay day, and you have a built in excuse when you lose. People talk about Mikey being brave here, really it’s just his long running cowardice on display in a different way.

Spence wasn't thinking about Mikey, Mikey did the same thing Rigs did with Loma and got a worse treatment.

 

I don't know what Mikey saw in Spence but I know he didn't see that ass whooping that was hiding behind it.

 

He saw the $$$ and hype attached to fighting him probably. Not a weakness he could exploit.

He saw Lomachenko, ran the other way to make a career high pay day in a survival fight and silence all his critics for saying that he fights no one. Now he has money, didn’t get knocked out, doesn’t have to get stopped by Loma. As I said before the fight, I won’t be surprised if he doesn’t fight again.

 

Definitely looking like a money grab. Anyone with half a brain could have told them Mikey would have nothing for Spence at 147. If Garcia had some power at 147 we would have had a different fight.

At this point Garcia might as well just retire and ride off in to the sunset. I could see him in the booth.
