Why the hell did Garcia choose Spence?

One factor I haven't seen discussed a lot: the fact that Mikey only had a minimal chance of winning made the fight easy to make in the first place. In this landscape, champions will only take a fight if they have a very high probability of winning.... Spence did, so he said yes with no hesitation.

Mikey would've been a bigger threat to the less powerful Porter and Thurman, who wouldn't want to risk looking bad against a smaller guy in spite of the payday.

Believe he thought he would go in there and out quick Errol. See Mikey was in a hard place it was either fight Loma or Spence! He choose Spence over a Loma fight in my view. It looks better to move up in weight and lose to a bigger guy. The fight was a mismatch Errol being just to big and strong for Mikey. To Errol's credit its hard to stop a guy when they are in survival mode which Mikey went into pretty quick. Due to Spences size advantage! Mikey needed to take risk but he was worried about getting caught as he punched! Fair play to Mikey now go back down in weight and fight guys your own size. Hopefully Mikey isn't damaged goods after Saturday night!

Payday, he could have gone the Loma route but knew if he lost it would destroy his legacy so he moved up in weight against one of the best 147s and picked up the payday without his legacy diminishing. Still i expected a lot more from him

I believe he is projected to get at least $10 Million dollars most likely more from PPV.

Because he is a dam fool. That beating will take years off him. Won't be the same when he goes back down weight. Spence has done the mauling job like a Lion on a small deer. Loma will feast on him like a vulture on meat scraps. He will just feed to top contenders now. Never rated him anyway.

For the money but who really cares. Spence exposed him for being a very limited fighter and not in the top p4p discussion.

Mikey showed he coukd take an awful beating.

Lol cmon. You see garcia show up flatfooted and slow as molasses and you ask that? Im sure that the loss of all of his athleticism was not part of what mikey imagined when he thought of taking on spence. Without legs he couldnt get past the jab and even inside, without speed he didnt have much pop.

Was it Mikeys career highest payday? I never understood the fight myself i just presumed Haymon wanted it and talked Garcia in to it, Neither Arum or Haymon are the least big interested in making the Spence Crawford fight, that fight is not going to happen until its way too late and pointless. Mikey piled on the weight and that never really goes well and Spence were too big and is too good a Boxer to not make full use of all the physical advantages. I had a moment where i thought "you never know it could be one of those special nights" but i knew. And it took about 1 minute of the 1st round to forget any thoughts of special nights.

Mikey looked so bad I was literally in shock. I was telling my wife how smart the Garcia’s are and how they are a fighting family they know what they are doing.

Mikey’s performance was so horrendous he lost me as a fan. What a miscalculation.

Hard to blame him, he was just against a bigger and better fighter, he went up 1 division and that's something to be commended for.

Spence is a multidimensional fighter with incredible offensive and defensive skills. He also has a mean body attack and he was utilizing that all night. Mikey just couldn't do much, looked like every one of those body shots were taking a toll on him.
