Saldivar was in a different league to McGuigan. Barry relied on relentless 15 round pressure, whipping body hooks and his toughness - the problem for him here is that Saldivar also happens to have these strengths, to at least as good (perhaps even better) a degree, and is the better technician and boxer of the pair on top of that. Saldivar by reasonably clear decision, although I wouldn't rule out a late, late stoppage. Either way, I think this is the kind of fight which would show the difference between very, very good and great.
This content is protected This content is protected The Baby Luis fight has been on Youtube for almost a year and has only 67 views. That's a pretty ****ing dire indictment of how little people care about some of the lower weight classes and fighters from just the recent past.
I wanna know what happened to the Ramos fight. The full version used to be on YouTube, it's gone now. I sure as Hell wish someone would upload it.
Youtube nukes some accounts for copyright violations, other people pack up shop and close their accounts I believe.
Out of interest does anyone know if there is a complete Saldivar-Famechon fight footage out there. The best I've seen is a few rounds that were up on youtube but not close to the entire fight. As an Australian I've heard the decision was debatable (could be bias for sure though) but the footage I did see (admittedly limited) had Fammo boxing particularly well against an aggressive Saldivar.
McGuigan was a bloody good fighter. From memory I haven't picked him yet in a proposed h2h yet but not deliberately. I'd back him against Hamed and maybe Morales though. His win against Pedroza was fantastic.Top shelf stuff!
I was just commenting generally on here mate, he doesn't seem to win many!! The thing is historically featherweight is a loaded division, so there's no disgrace in having him losing against the fellas they have him up against. I agree Barry was a very good fighter and he probably gets a tad underrated on here.
I'm hearing you mate. Some guys always seem to be the fall guy on here and Barry is one of them. The Cruz fight and shortish title reign mark him down but 19 other guys couldn't do what he did with the mighty Pedroza. He was the real deal in my view and I love watching him fight. But Featherweight is one of the best divisions and ludicrously stacked with talent. Barry belongs in the ring with any of them even if he's losing some of them.
