They were planning on having his as Wilders first DAZN opponent but they heard OP had a stiff check jab and pulled out
Agreed. They jack up the price not even a few months in LMFAO. Not that I subscribed to it before but they're shady.
I donno, this 'deal' only lasts for 12 months and it's a whopping $20 usd a month afterwards. That's $240 USD a year and let's be honest, it's not even close to a guarantee that DAZN will provide the best quality PPV's for boxing.
They also offer bellator, international soccer and mlb games! They are going after the nfl which why they are upping their price
In Canada $20 CAN ($15 USD) a month, $150 CAN ($115 USD) for the year. But we get boxing, Premier League, Champions League, MLS, almost every other soccer league, NFL, MLB, women's tennis, and a lot more. It's 10 euro ($11.40) a month in Germany. While $10 a month was too good to last, for a strictly boxing streaming service $20 US is too much. Netflix I see increased from $11 to $13, but they've continued to add more series and movie rights and apparently have surpassed cable subscriptions. The new pricing should suggest DAZN will be adding other sports and intend to make big pushes for major league rights in the States, but till they have a wider slate of major sports $20 is a bad move and isn't going to drive subscriptions. $10 for a casual fan to see Canelo-Jacobs and consider staying on board for other ongoing boxing is easy enough, while at $20 a lot less will see Canelo-Jacobs, and only a small fraction will likely continue. DAZN should still be all about peddling for new subscribers and building their name. Still if you're won over by the DAZN model as I am the annual plan should be a no brainer. Also FYI: DAZN allows two simultaneous connections, split the annual cost and you've got $4 a month for the best boxing platform out there. Maybe you guys can thank the 18 year old Canadian girl who won the Indian Wells tennis tournament last week and became an overnight superstar here for the price increase. DAZN streamed the final match on twitter, which 500,000 people watched. More people were likely introduced to DAZN through her than Canelo, in a country 1/9 the market of the States, and the wta cost them nothing compared to what they've shelled out for boxing. Don't forget they're a global operation in eight countries now with their hands in a lot of other sports rights, they're not living and dying with boxing in the US.
Stop you are speaking too much sense for this thread. John skipper said the same thing a couple weeks ago. They are a global business which isn't reliant on the US operation. The global business allows them to enter the American marketplace. The reason they started with boxing and Bellator was they were avaliable while other sports rights were not. They just recently went live in Brazil and are launching in Spain. https://media.dazn.com/en/press-rel...olutionize-the-way-fans-watch-sport-in-spain/ Companies that are running out of money do not expand into new territories. What they do is double down on what they already have.
No new business with the kind of investment levels they have would be finished within 1 year...if you know business you know this. The key timframe for DAZN is at year 3 and at year 5. If they cant demonstrate value either as an asset to sell on, or in terms of profit making at year 3 they will be on the way to being finished. If they can then they have until year 5 to demonstrate ROI. They will need to be able to attract additional investment or new investors at the year 3 point too. As they were launched in 2019 in the USA, they have until 2024 before a plug would be pulled on them in the US market
True that them expanding into new markets proves that they were successful in the existing ones. However each market has its own challenges, and many multinational companies will fail in certain markets and pull out after some time. Success is never guaranteed in any new market. Entering a new market, especially the USA market is extremely tough, especially in boxing. I have my doubts on whether they will be a success in the US market, the big dog, simply because of how complex and competitive it is and they are not leading with a great product in comparison to the competition at this stage
I think it's worth every penny. - They show the full undercards. - They show the World Boxing Super Series. - They show a lot of the boxers I want to see, such as Joshua, GGG, Usyk, Madrimov, Callum Smith, etc.
It’s moving to $20 a month for the ppv subscriber then cancel scammers & 100/year for the true boxing fans. The true subscribers will have a grace period of a year to decide if they want to pay$20/mo or $100/yr Works out being cheaper about $8.50/mo Good ploy to protect their investment against fake subscribers.
