Don't quite know what a silicon manufacturer AMD has in common with broadcast company DAZN?

    But yeah here you go

Of course there's lots in common. Both are coming from having basically zero to start off with. And both are in an incredibly difficult market to penetrate. Just like Intel had a complete dominance in the semi-conductor market (At one point around 2013/14, Intel had about 95% market share), the same applies when we talk about PBC and ESPN. They still mainly control the market. It's still a two horse race. But it can become a three horse race, if DAZN spend. And that's what I'm saying. My point was that you HAVE to spend to take market share. There's no ways around that. They are right to pay big for Canelo, GGG, Joshua and to try for Wilder. That's how you do it.

They will continue to make losses, but slowly and surely they can tone down their investment when it starts to pay off. Just like AMD have. AMD are near profitable now. Only 4 or 5 years ago they were near bankruptcy.

I get it, you have some shares in amd.
Guess what. So do I. I don't have shares in DAZN.
It looks like a fail model to me, that will collapse as quick as a trump's blimp.

Back to baaaxing if I may...how much was GGG payed by DAZN.?

A lot, maybe too much. But if that's what it takes then that is what it takes. Is it worth paying that to take him away from a big PBC offer? Yes.

I believe what DAZN are doing is right simply because as I said...it's worked before in an even tougher situation. PBC and ESPN don't have 10x the budget that DAZN have, do they? This is easier than the Intel/AMD situation. So if AMD can do it, why can't DAZN? That's what I'm getting at and I don't see how I am wrong. If you care to tell me how I am wrong then by all means go ahead.

That money has more value than you think it does. It actually forces the Charlo's to make a decision. Do they stay at PBC and fight nobodies or do they go to DAZN. I've said this before in other threads, the signing of GGG is hugely important. It causes a chain reaction that could really hurt PBC. If the Charlo's go, does their friend Errol Spence go? And with those all at DAZN, what will Deontay Wilder be thinking?

I agree with you up to a point m8. But without going too technical you are wrong.
AMD didn't come from nothing. It's been producing cpu for 50years.
That got substantially reduced when they realised they can get GGG on their books . The MW king and people's champ probably for same money.

Who wants a donkey when u can have a stallion ?

Most ppl know he got whooped by Tyson and he is just an temp belt holding dosser.

Correct. AMD did have lots of experience. However, they were at a point of bankruptcy at one stage and that is equivalent to starting from scratch just like DAZN are. And that's why I am comparing the two. Only difference is that AMD had Jim Keller to start off with, they already had the experience. DAZN didn't, but that's why they bought Eddie Hearn. He is the Jim Keller type of character for DAZN. He is experienced and is the equivalent of having the experience that AMD had.

Yeah, as @Holler and @destruction have postulated this looks to be a deliberate pricing strategy after the initial honeymoon period. A business on this scale would be burning through cash anyway; the aim at this stage will be attaining market dominance through undercutting competitors and establishing your brand. Financial backers won't be looking at a return on investment until several years down the line, once things have settled in. That's more or less how every business venture works.

Exactly what I was saying on the other thread about GGG signing. The plan is to spend as much as possible until the market share is there, then ease off.

I'm ok with this move if he fights the best. I hope he fights Andrade next. I really don't follow his career anymore because he is past his best and because he didn't fight Eubank Jr, Saunders, Andrade and Froch. Usually if you make a claim of fighting somebody you fight them but not Golovkin. At 36 he is not far from end of his career. I'm ok with his fights as long as he fights somebody of note.

His last 3 fights have been against the best Middles the world has to offer, what's the problem ??? He earning too much money for your liking ?? :)... Sergio D as good as he is wasn't beating GGG and would you not of chose the money option at 36/37 with Canelo ?? Jnr and BJS( who I rate very highly) ran from GGG, especially Jnr, why you think Brook leapt at the chance to fill the spot ?? Mega money.....Mega money and Jnr turned it down..So, in all his career, GGG has never swerved a fight, there has been better deals on the table that's all and it doesn't suit everyone or every fan of the sport..

DAZN is doing great getting all these guys to sign. The fear is what we all think. If someone signs with DAZN can they fight someone with Top Rank. I think it is a good thing but the taking sides thing will give a good excuse for not fighting. Sort of like Floyd and Manny years ago. The fab 4 in the 1980s, most of their fights were with top rank, although Hearns vs. Duran was not top rank. I don't think.

I believe that ESPN and DAZN are fine with each other. It's PBC who are the problem. I remember Eddie saying a few weeks back that John Skipper has good friends at ESPN and it will be easy to do fights because of it.
