It all depends if Jackson manages to land. If Minter stays behind the southpaw jab and boxes then I think he outpoints Jackson or stops him after half way, he's the better boxer. However if he opts to engage in a slugfest which he was sometimes inclined to do, he'd likely be knocked out.
Precisely how's I see it Cec.He should stop Jackson ,sticking to a precise boxing plan .But and it's a big BUT ,if Minter gets tagged and loses his cool ,then it could be another spectacular ko from JJ .
I guess it is a possible and plausible outcome. But to me Minter was the better boxer, had the better chin (outside of cuts he was not stopped), had at least equal MW power for me. Unless he gets cut, I don’t think Jackson has the skill to get him down
Watched a lot of minter as a kid apart from the obvious cuts problem he had one major fault he loved getting involved in a tear up . Yes I know he could box very well but he did love a fight he'd drop his hands low and wanna fight . If minter can control his urge to get involved I think minter has a good chance to win as Jackson didn't have the best chin and could be outboxed . As I was a minter fan as a kid I'm also a little biased so minter wins this one me
Are you sure he was never stopped? I'm sure I saw some old footage of him getting annihilated by Sibson.
You are correct but that is hardly the Minter we are looking at. But yes I had forgotten that. He previous stoppages were all on cuts
He's a bit before my time but I've never really understood why so people seem to be so big on Minter. Especially against a dangerous puncher like Jackson. Nifty enough boxer but not particularly slick or crafty. No head movement on defense. Not particularly fast or powerful or physically explosive. Cuts easily. What am I missing?
